The Union Health Secretary, Apurva Chandra, highlighted the similarities of this year’s theme, “All for Health, Health for All” with the age-old Indian tradition of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam which means the “world is one family”. He stated that under this theme, “India launched the Ayushman Bharat meaning “Live Long India” to promote Universal Health Coverage by operationalizing more than 1,60,000 Health and Wellness centers (Ayushman Aarogya Mandir)." He also highlighted that as per the WHO SPAR report, India has a core capacity score of 86% to detect, assess, report and respond to any health emergencies. “Today, India is on the verge of eliminating Visceral Leishmaniasis (VL) disease and has also reduced the TB incidence and mortality”, he stated. Furthermore, India in collaboration with WHO intends to further strengthen the drug regulatory system to ensure quick access to high-quality medical products for all. . . . #namasteinformed #namastedemocracy #WHO #Apurva Chandra #AyushmanBharat

Are we celebrating a healthcare myth? 🚨 India proudly claims to have achieved the WHO-recommended 1:1000 doctor-population ratio, but here’s the stark reality: Of the 1.4 million registered doctors, NSSO estimates only 69% are available to treat patients, as opposed to 80% claimed by the health ministry. It gets worse: rural India, where 65% of the population lives, is served by just 33% of doctors. Meanwhile, few urban areas remain over-resourced, leaving villages and small towns critically underserved. Hitting targets on paper doesn’t mean we’ve won the healthcare battle. Behind the shiny statistics lies a system struggling with inequitable distribution, a lack of infrastructure, and underutilized talent. Healthcare isn’t about numbers; it’s about impact. India’s real challenge isn’t meeting ratios. It’s ensuring every citizen, whether in a metro city or a remote village, has access to qualified, reliable care. It’s time to face the truth and demand real change. Further reading: https://lnkd.in/gHgDJHGu ation-ratio-829064 #Healthcare #India #Doctors #Equity

Skyrocketing medical costs are quietly suffocating millions of Indians. While the expansion of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) for senior citizens aged 70+ is a step in the right direction, more needs to be done. The government must prioritize making healthcare accessible and affordable for all Indians, regardless of age. The future of our nation depends on the health and well-being of our citizens. It's imperative that the government takes concrete steps to bridge the healthcare gap between different age groups and ensures quality healthcare for all. A healthier India is possible only when healthcare is treated as a right, not a privilege. The government must act now to make this vision a reality. #Health #Thought #Management #India
