🌟 Did you know that women are leading the way in the clean energy revolution? In 2018, the Women in Clean Energy (WICE) initiative was developed in efforts to foster a community of support, solidarity, and camaraderie for self-identifying North Carolinian professional women in the clean energy industry. Within the first year, more than 600 women participated in several networking events held across the state. Women in clean energy are breaking barriers and making significant contributions to the industry. Their innovative ideas and unique perspectives are driving positive change in the fight against climate change. There is a growing recognition of the importance of diversity in leadership roles within the clean energy sector. Empowering women in clean energy not only benefits the industry but also the planet as a whole. 👩🏫Gender equity is crucial to a successful long-term energy transition. Happy #InternationalWomensDay! To put it simply, water wouldn't have its power without the ongoing contributions of women within our industry – that includes those who are keeping our hydro facilities running, leading major power producers in board rooms across America, elevating our voices in Washington, and much more. However, despite these achievements, recent studies show that women only make up about 30% of our industry. That means that, on #IWD and all year round, we can't just honor women in water power; we must act boldly to reach #genderparity. Through NHA's growing DEI initiatives, we're working to achieve this, but there's more to work to do. A #hydro industry where women can reach their full potential is an industry that benefits us all and strengthens the communities we serve.

A great way to spend your weekend is to go through our latest JRC report "Gender and Energy: The Effects of the Energy Transition on Women" that is now live 👩🔬 This is the first of the many insightful deliverables that we plan for 2024 in our project investigating Just & Empowering Transitions in the energy and transport sectors. Despite their crucial role in energy management, women remain underrepresented in the energy sector. Her4Energy integrates gender perspectives into energy projects and policies. By transforming energy initiatives into inclusive, sustainable solutions, it aims to bridge the gender gap and empower women in the transition to sustainable energy. The tool encourages collaboration among policymakers, community leaders, and private sector partners. By empowering women to take leadership in the energy sector, the tool positions women as key agents of change in sustainable energy goals.
