Women who think fund sales is not for them need to think again. That's the message from four senior women who say fund distribution isn't really about selling any more, at least not in the way many would think. A Citywire survey found women made just a fifth of the fund sales workforce. On the eve of International Women's Day, we asked why the numbers are so low, what is being done to change that, and why women should pursue a career in fund distribution. An intriguing possibility is that more women could move across from other roles in asset management to join a distribution team. Speaking very frankly to Selector's William Robins were: 💡 Sarah Aitken, head of distribution EMEA and Asia, Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM); 💡 Jasbir Nizar-Baker, head of business development, Lombard Odier Investment Managers; 💡 Nataline Terry, head of distribution UK & Ireland, T. Rowe Price UK; and 💡 Harriet Steel, head of global clients, Pemberton Asset Management. Join us this Friday, April 5th at 12 PM with Robyn Russell & Ivy Jack from the Diverse Investing Collective Register here: https://lnkd.in/eQqgwwsA For too long, the people designing and driving our financial system have looked the same. Only 14% of fund managers are women, and that number hasn't changed in 20 years! People of color are more severely underrepresented in asset management, including those who are Black and Hispanic/Latinx. This interactive conversation will review the evidence of outperformance by diverse teams, and give attendees concrete action steps they can take to diversify the teams managing their assets. It’s time to change the face of finance and put more assets into the hands of women and people of color. #collectiveconversations #impact #empoweringwomen #finance #investing #education #racialwealthgap #diversity #community #whocontrolscapitalmatters #itstimetochangethefaceoffinance #wecanonlydothistogether
