Lights! Camera! Action! Exciting news! CHRIS 180 was one of a few organizations nationwide chosen to be featured in a video produced by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Our infant and early childhood mental health program, New Generation, was highlighted for continuing to grow its impact after completing a five-year grant from SAMHSA and transitioning it to a program that bills for service. Team members and our partners discussed how they interact with families and children in the wraparound program and some of the success stories they have helped bring to life. Stay tuned for the full video! #SAMHSA #CHRIS180 #mentalhealth #atlantanonprofit

This year's Children's Mental Health Acceptance Week will be the second week of National Mental Health Awareness Month: May 5-11. Learn more from the National Federation of Families: #CMHAW2024 #AcceptAdvocateAct
A new event in May with three champions and advocates for families! Children’s Mental Health Acceptance Week, previously known as Awareness Week, has a long history. The campaign began in Missouri in 1992. Over the next five years, several more states started their own celebrations, and the National Federation of Families took the campaign national. Join us for a rich discussion about the history, evolution, and future of this important campaign as we pass the torch from SAMHSA mental health champion Liz Sweet (retired) to Carol Cecil (incumbent). Learn more about how you can promote the message of acceptance of mental health challenges for children, youth, and families. https://ow.ly/2Ntp50RouwW #CMHAW2024 #AcceptAdvocateAct #SocialJusticeForFamilies

Mental health awareness month #day5 Today is a Sunday , sure most of us went to church smile 😊 .... did you?? Today I'm taking this advocacy 🪧 to churches"Mental Health Advocacy in Churches: Let's Break the Silence!!!! It's good to pray, it's fine if you speak in tongues, evangelism is great, but do we check on our mental health?? As people of faith, we're called to care for one another's well-being - body, mind, and spirit. Yet, mental health is often stigmatized or overlooked in our communities. It's time to change that! Let's create safe spaces for open conversations, support, and resources. Let's educate ourselves and others about mental health. Let's pray for and with those struggling, and advocate for inclusive, compassionate care. Together, we can break the silence and build a culture of understanding, love, and support. Let's prioritize mental health in our churches and show the world what it means to truly love our neighbors as ourselves. #MentalHealthAdvocacy #ChurchesForMentalHealth #BreakTheSilence"#sunday #mentalhealthawarenessmonth #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthsupport #ItCouldBeYou #mentalhealthadvocacy #sundayvibes

Childhood Trauma Consultant, LinkedIn Top Voice, Curriculum Developer, Facilitator, and Public Speaker. SME for Children’s Media, CASA Volunteer, Co-Chair of the PA Child Abuse Prevention Team & Best-Selling Author
There's been some debate over what's causing the children's mental health crisis in 2024, so I dove into the research from the CDC, Child Trends, NAMI, APA, and the NIMH over the weekend, and the diagram below represents what their research concludes. One startling statistic I found: As of 2023, 240,000 American children and 10.5 million worldwide lost one or both primary caregivers to COVID-19. The impact of that on children's mental health can be profound, and yet, what are we doing to support these children? Tomorrow, I will present a two-hour webinar sponsored by the California Alliance of Child & Family Services titled "Reimagining Resilience: Navigating Children's Mental Health in the Post-COVID Era." I will share my new strategies for enhancing recovery and resilience through trust, safety, and connection with children. If you go to the link in the comments, you might be able to create an account and register, but I'm not 100% sure. So far, 90 people have signed up for this webinar! To access guidance and resources to support children with a history of trauma, abuse, or neglect, please subscribe to my free newsletter at BethTyson.com. #socialwork #childrensmentalhealth #traumainformedcare #parenting

🔥 What if Smokey Bear only taught us how to put out fires? When it comes to the #youthmentalhealth crisis, it seems we have more and more fires to put out and they are arriving more and more frequently. Our systems and resources just can't keep up. We have been focused most on services to address this crisis. And while access to and equity for appropriate #mentalhealth services should remain a top priority, it alone is simply not enough. 🛑 We can't only treat our way out of this crisis. 🛑 Every school and community needs #mentalhealthliteracy (MHL) education. With MHL, people learn how to support their own mental health as well as the mental health of those in their care. They can challenge #stigma, recognize signs of concerns early, and address them appropriately. MHL offers people the language and the confidence to engage in conversations they may otherwise avoid. MHL is a proactive, upstream solution to this crisis. 💦 To learn more about MHL and how to bring it to your community, download our Advocacy Toolkit: https://lnkd.in/eUiSKRGR Join us upstream. #theMHLC #upstream #communityhealth #prevention #earlyintervention

This is an important topic to discuss among the adults. Perhaps in future similar forums, to include a 'Youth Voice' (in the panel) to present a bottom-up strategy, so the teens are assured that " the adults are willing to listen". A co-design and co-lead youth mental health service is the key message from TheMHS 2024 Conference.
Looking forward to being on the panel for this important mental health forum for parents and carers at Burwood Girls High School next week. The event is a partnership between Burwood Council and local youth focused agencies. More info below ⬇️ Dr Bibiana Chan CF Jumana Azeem
