It highlights the human skills that are essential to leadership, but it also encourages leaders to use AI to improve their performance. Rasmus Hougaard, Jacqueline Carter, and Robert Stembridge write: “In our AI-enabled future, leaders who leverage AI will have a distinct advantage in productivity, efficiency, and decision-making. Insightful article in HBR about why AI is not able to replace good leaders yet. According to the article, "authentic" leadership is the key. In short, the more human you are in your leadership, the better the outcomes for your teams, your organization, and yourself. While successful leaders today need to understand and leverage the benefits of AI, they also need to embrace their uniquely human qualities more fully. A recent survey found that people have limited trust that AI can understand human behavior at work better than human leaders (57% don’t trust and 22% are neutral). Notably, 65% of respondents in the survey were “somewhat” to “completely” confident in AI’s ability to develop a strategy. However, we still trust more in authentic humans to lead us, especially when it comes to our personal matters and emotions. Do you foresee a future where we are comfortable with AI leaders? Yes to #AI for gains in productivity and accuracy, and yes to radically human #leadership for motivating and engaging people: "Leadership is about unlearning management and relearning being human. Human leadership is about showing up as an authentic human being with vulnerability, imperfections, and often without all of the answers. At the very core of human leadership are three core qualities: awareness, compassion, and wisdom."

Supporting and developing leaders and fellow coaches | Executive Coach | Coach Supervisor (in training) | TedX speaker | 1 Billion trees before I die
I was afraid of being replaced by AI. I had been told AI could replace the leaders I worked with and coaches. How can I be a leadership coach if leaders and coaches are replaced?! Instead of being afraid I got curious. What is so human that AI couldn't replace? It has shaped my development, away from reading 100's of books towards paying closer attention to my moment to moment human experience. This helped me stumble on some uniquely human qualities that cannot be replaced or simulated. In this article Rasmus Hougaard from Potential Project invites us to shift our focus towards: 1) awareness, 2) compassion, and 3) wisdom, 3 of those uniquely human qualities. These can't be replaced by AI. How are you developing these as a leader or coach? AI is exponentially developing. It's time to be human in response. Onwards. If you want support along your journey of being irreplaceably a human leader, send me a message!

There are some areas where #AI is surpassing human capabilities — but there are several it can’t replace. Based on their research into employees’ comfort with AI in management, as well as their decades of research on the qualities of effective #leadership, the authors identify the promise (and perils) of AI-enabled management, as well as the three uniquely human capabilities leaders need to focus on honing, especially as AI begins to figure more in management: 1) #awareness, 2) #compassion, and 3) #wisdom.”
