Concept: The concept for this render was born from the idea of capturing the untamed and primal nature of the Dior Sauvage fragrance. The fragrance is often associated with the wild, rugged outdoors, and I wanted to encapsulate that through a minimalist yet powerful visual representation. [ 2023 in a nutshell ] Chances are that you have already seen this picture, and that you know who is wearing the dress. 🪡 Yet, you probably did not know that 𝟲𝟬𝟬 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗼𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲… until now! Then who? Who hand-created this custom gown for the 2018 #MetGala? 🤔 Well, someone at @Versace, remaining true to the spirit of its famously opulent house codes. 𝙎𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙙. 👀 Which is pretty funny as the dress and its owner were mentioned at least a hundred thousand times all over the Internet! 💡 Here it is, the common trait between these workers’ amazing skills and Keck Chimie products: being voluntary kept hidden in the #fashionindustry. So whoever they are — and most certainly, plural form! — we dedicate this post to their talent in broad daylight. 👉 In 2018, the Costume Institute exhibition celebrated “Fashion and the Catholic Imagination". And Versace’s seamstresses did way more than just embracing this theme. 👗 Their ornate ruby & gold design, completed with intricate and extensive beading, jewel-encrusted tailored corset and sheer panels 𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒐𝒅𝒊𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒕. Do you think the dressmakers knew their haute couture masterpiece would make such a lasting impression? Just came across this new season card from ‘Messieurs Cartier’ to their clients in the 1930s. On the back of the Great Depression and pearl crisis, this wasn’t an easy period for Cartier so it’s interesting to see the services offered: less about new diamond tiaras and more about reminding clients of the possibility to simply update their current pieces - whether by popping in to discuss new designs of old jewels, having a pearl necklace restrung (something that was recommended once a year) or bringing in one’s watch for a service or repair. Love the bold block print style of the ‘Cartier’ on the front (made by the Cartier Paris engravers). And the blue colour is unusual for Cartier - not the classic red. But it makes sense given the lower-cost services proposed in the card. Similarly, when Pierre Cartier sold lower price items during the Depression in an attempt to keep the firm afloat (he created a $5 and $10 Department in the 5th Ave Store), he decided to sell them in blue cardboard boxes, rather than red leather ones, to differentiate them from the high end items. The “fun” in runway fashion is looong gone 🌸🐉 What do you see when you think of early 2000s Dior, Moschino and Fendi? Crazy layers? Sexiness? Y2K aesthetic? It’s what I imagine as the most fun era of runway fashion One of my fav collections ever is: Dior Ready-To-Wear, Spring 2005 Colour clashes, bold accessories, punk-inspired but with clear influence from vibrant Japanese street style & Fruits magazine 🤩 What’s so great about it - is the almost DIY look, Like you could recreate something similar from thrifted pieces & some fabric markers And that’s why it’s so fun Aspirational style but not unattainable INspirational (Besides the severely unattainable model look from the 2000s) Does anyone else have a favourite era of fashion? Traditionally, luxury was about creating beauty and enhancing human charm with exquisite, albeit sometimes inaccessible, materials. It was an art form that celebrated the unique and the extraordinary. However, the modern luxury industry seems to have veered off this path. Today, it's heavily driven by engineering, data, and an endless parade of endorsements. The beauty and charm that once defined luxury items seem overshadowed by a focus on brand names and materialistic value. I miss the days when luxury was synonymous with sheer beauty. Icons like Leonardo Da Vinci and Christian Dior didn’t rely on data to create timeless masterpieces. Dior’s 1954 pencil skirts weren’t just garments; they were celebrations of femininity, crafted to magnify beauty as per Dior’s own vision of the 'tall letter H'. As we navigate through this ever-changing world, let’s not lose sight of what truly matters. Let's remember that like a butterfly’s effortless dance, life and luxury should be simple, beautiful experiences that touch our souls and bring joy to our eyes.
