There are several webtools available on CDC.gov, but PLACES has to be my favorite. I love the ability to see the prevalence of major health conditions and factors on a broad map of the country as well as at local. And I mean hyper-LOCAL. You can find out the estimated depression rates for a zip code. The rate of binge drinking in a county. How many people lack access to broadband in a census tract. How many women have gotten mammograms in a city. This is amazing data for health care and public health leaders to determine where they need to focus their efforts.

In support of National Minority Health Month, local planners and public health leaders can use PLACES data to inform local public health and community planning, implementation, and evaluation efforts to advance health equity.
