Everything is called an insight these days. It feels we are working against a galloping inflation of insights. But oberservations, data points and not even customer needs are not insights per se. Insights are the result of hard work. Collection, Curation, Sythesis, Thinking and Discussion. Technology and advances in IT can ease this work for us. I´m looking forward to discussing this together with Stravito and other Insights professionals at the Quirks event in London (May 8/9) how we at Roche work against insights inflation. https://lnkd.in/dXFf45Np. #roche #stravito #insights #quirks24
I discovered by accident quite recently Christoph Petersen that at least one form of insight is simply something you know but that your manager doesn’t - !
I wholeheartedly agree Christoph - data does not equal insights. It is what you do with the data - all of the analysis etc that leads to valuable insights.... and I also agree on the hard - but also truly satisfying - work involved in this process.
I cannot agree more! Thanks for reminding us Chris.
I'm so excited for this talk, Christoph!!!
Exciting!

4moChristoph Petersen Please correct me if I’m wrong: an insight is more of the interpretation or recommendation for action resulting from data, right? I’d like to add one more dimension on your hypothesis of an “insights inflation”: I always feel like we (=including myself) are asking for more and more insights, but eventually fail to properly execute upon them. Do you agree?
