We have published our long-gestating #Boron Sector Review. In it we examine the applications and demand/supply balance in this key mineral where the West has a decided strategic advantage, with #Turkey, the US and #Argentina being the major producers, with #Serbia as a (potential) addition to the mix. The dominant producers are ETIMADEN ASIA PACIFIC LIMITED & #RTZ. Then we dive into the situation, and progress, at developers BORON ONE (in Serbia) and 5E Advanced Materials, Inc (in California) and relate our visit to the long-term producer, Borax Argentina in #Salta. https://lnkd.in/eB7h7bv8

In 2023, VESCO Group, a portfolio company of umgi, generated $75.2 million in gross revenue. This year, the team expects sales to double. The group is actively working on the strategic expansion of its business in Europe, the main markets for VESCO clays being Italy, Spain, Ukraine, Turkey, and Poland. In 2023, VESCO Spain commenced extraction from a clay quarry at the Encarnita deposit in Spain. In 2024, VESCO Україна plans to extract up to 500 thousand tonnes of clay. It is a six times decrease compared to the pre-war period. However, combined with the stocks, it is enough to restore the flexibility of the product portfolio and meet the individual needs of the customers. VESCO continues to develop transport routes in the Black Sea through Ukrainian ports and plans to increase its logistics capacity within Ukraine. The group prioritises R&D to strengthen expertise, implement the principles of sustainable mining and further diversify extraction. In 2023, investments in the support and development of the group's companies totalled USD 5.3 million, of which USD 3.6 million were allocated to R&D. To achieve its sustainable development goals, VESCO is constantly working on land recultivation. In 2023, the group returned 108 hectares of land to Ukrainian communities, investing almost USD 3 million in the restoration.  #Mining #SustainableMining

Mako Gold Ltd (ASX:MKG) managing director Peter Ledwidge joined Proactive's Stephen Gunnion with results from the ongoing mapping and rock chip sampling program at the Tchaga North prospect at its flagship Napié Project in Côte d’Ivoire that yielded up to 79 grams per tonne of #gold. Ledwidge said the discovery adds to the already significant maiden resource of 868,000 ounces of gold. The company's approach involves expanding its resource base by targeting new areas. Out of 17 targets, Tchaga North has emerged as a high-grade zone, evidenced by the presence of a deep artisanal mining pit. The geology team at Mako Gold is actively engaged in mapping and rock chip sampling to generate new drill targets. This process has revealed new structures, prompting a change in drilling direction to effectively target these high-grade veins. Managing Director Alex Biggs on the ground during a recent trip to Brazil, walking Lightning Minerals' Caraibas and Sidronio projects in the prolific Lithium Valley district of Minas Gerais. The site visit yielded positive indications, including the verification of previously identified outcropping pegmatites containing lithium-bearing minerals within artisanal workings at the Caraíbas project. Additionally, numerous pegmatite showings were observed across both the Caraíbas and Sidrônio project areas, suggesting the presence of pervasive hydrothermal activity. Where is Spain's only nickel mine? The Denarius Metals’ Aguablanca Project is located in Monesterio, Extramadura, Spain, bordering the provinces of Huelva and Seville. It is accessed via a paved, four lane national highway from Seville. The highway runs approximately 100 km north from Seville towards the town of Santa Olalla del Cala and from there, the mine is accessible by paved roads. Aguablanca is strategically important as it is only 88 km from Denarius Metals’ Lomero Project.
