The Future of Jobs Report by the World Economic Forum highlights continuous learning as a critical skill for the workforce of the future (https://lnkd.in/dH2Tvg8S). In saying that I often find that there is a mindset in organisations where some employees believe they've learned all they need to know. But why the fear of resistance? Fear of the unknown Feeling undervalued Time constraints This can hinder individual growth and ultimately hurt the company's competitiveness. So how can you support upskilling? Focus on "why" not just "what" - clearly explain how new skills benefit the employee (career advancement!) and the company (increased efficiency!). Microlearning & bite-sized training - cater to busy schedules with short, engaging learning modules. Mentorship programs - pair experienced workers with those learning new skills. Peer support builds confidence. Highlight success stories - showcase how upskilled colleagues have thrived. Leadership Endorsement - drive a culture of learning from the top down. When leaders endorse and participate in ongoing learning initiatives, it sets a powerful example for the organisation. Investing in your workforce isn't just the right thing to do, it's good business. If you need help developing your learning strategy, please get in touch - I’d be happy to advise > > > https://lnkd.in/eCpD7wXX #Upskilling #FutureofWork #EmployeeDevelopment

Upskill, reskill or hire skilled candidates - how can businesses know which option to pursue? That's the question that Skill Success posed in its latest blog post. And Spotted Zebra's Nick Shaw was delighted to contribute to the debate. As Nick highlights, a significant determinant for choosing between employee development/reskilling and new talent hiring hinges on the 𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 of necessary #skills and potential within your current workforce. Nick recommends a 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞-𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡: 🔍 𝐈𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐲 future-required skills and critical vacant roles for proactive employee development. 📈 𝐄𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞 staff in roles becoming obsolete, considering #reskilling potential for available opportunities. 👩💼 If internal talent is insufficient for current roles or time is pressing, consider 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠. Investing in Learning and Development (L&D) is more crucial than ever for companies aiming to attract and retain top talent. Five essential statistics that highlight the importance of L&D to maintain and attract talent: - 84% of employees expect their employer to provide training and education to stay updated with industry changes, yet 51% of executives consider their current L&D programs a "waste of time." - While 65% of executives believe employees are "very satisfied" with L&D programs, only 32% of employees feel the same. - Over 75% of employees would stay with their current company long-term if it offered better training and development opportunities. - 39% of employees are likely to leave within the next year for a job that offers better learning programs. - Executives estimate that 49% of current workforce skills will be irrelevant by 2025, and 47% of the workforce is unprepared for the future of work. Investing in L&D isn't just about skill enhancement—it's a strategic move to build a more resilient, motivated, and forward-thinking workforce. #LearningAndDevelopment #EmployeeTraining #TalentRetention #FutureSkills #WorkplaceLearning #InvestInPeople
