Missed receiving the AlertMarin text, call or email over the weekend? It's not too late!
On March 23, the County of Marin's Office of Emergency Management (OEM) conducted its first-ever test of our local emergency alerting system. Here are a couple of reasons why you did not receive the alert via text, call or email.
1️⃣ You're not signed up! Go to AlertMarin.org to register your home, work or areas you frequent to receive potentially life-saving information during an emergency.
2️⃣ You signed up a while back but have not updated your preferred contact information. Phone numbers and addresses change - verify you can sign in to your account!
3️⃣ You confused AlertMarin and Nixle. Nixle provides awareness-based information about details like road closures whereas AlertMarin delivers alerts directly to addresses within the danger area in times of life-threatening situations.
If you registered for AlertMarin before October 2023, we encourage you to go to AlertMarin.org and sign-up via the new portal and this will allow you to manage your account. While you'll still receive alerts to the devices you previously registered, the new system lets you manually update contact info, including address changes and additional phone numbers.
If you have questions or need help give OEM a call at (415) 473-6584 or email at AlertMarin@MarinCounty.org
