We are delighted to share our 2023 Sustainability Report, Together for a better future 🌍🌱🌟 At Ideal Standard International NV we're proud to present our progress and achievements throughout the last year in our ongoing journey towards a sustainable tomorrow. In 2023, we made significant strides, including: 🌍 Reducing our company-wide CO2 emissions by 5% (5,514 tonnes) 🌍 Removing 41.5 tonnes of single use plastic from our product packaging 🌍 Publishing 5,000 Environmental Product Declarations to ensure greater transparency 🌍 More than 90% of our portfolio aligning with at least one of our four EcoLogic criteria. In addition, we increased female recruitment in Europe by 7.5%; launched a comprehensive supply chain due diligence programme; and secured health and safety certification to ISO 45001 for our operations here in the UK and the Czech Republic, meaning all plants across five countries have achieved the accreditation. The European Commission’s issued a formal notice in September 2024 to 17 Member States urging them to fully transpose the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) into their own national rules. The CSRD is designed to enhance transparency in corporate sustainability and risk assessment across the European Union. The directive's goals are now at risk due to delayed implementation in many key economies. An insightful World Economic Forum blog highlighting the complexities of navigating supply chain sustainability, driven by evolving regulations such as the #CSDDD. Happy that Joël Frijhoff from my team in Ørsted has contributed to it, with several good points. First one is that, while data collection on CO2 emissions is advanced, challenges remain in tracking quantifiable biodiversity and human rights data. However, he also says, that "While supply chain sustainability data is a challenge, we have plenty of information available to take action on sustainability today...". So no reason for holding back on actions and investments. This post is a great read for anyone invested in creating compliant and more transparent and sustainable supply chains!
