#ogsresearch #citizenscience 👨👨👦👦👨👩👧👦 After three years of experimentation COCAL, the participatory science project designed by OGS, becomes operational and public. 💪 Devices to measure air quality on private cars and public transport buses has been developed and installed thanks to the project's team. In particular, a network of mobile sensors has been developed to monitor air quality (particulate matter) in urban areas in real time. 🚌 The approach is based on the use of several vehicles in which sensors, detection and transmission devices are installed thanks to the collaboration with the local transport company (TPL FVG). 📳 From 2021 COCAL has collected more than 100 million of measurements, which show various hotspots and trends in air pollution in the city of Trieste and are the subject of various scientific publications in international journals. 🔎 https://lnkd.in/gXeTmhu8

Today is a great day! The congress begins, which objective is to highlight the efforts of the scientific world on issues related to transportation in general. Companies and institutions from all over the world meet at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) to present their work that will change the way of mobility in the future. The Thiesel Congress organized by the CMT–Clean Mobility & Thermofluids (UPV) Institute aims to reveal the new technological ways of moving in the future by air, land and sea.

Additionally, on farms 🏡, #5GPrivateNetworks are evaluated using either broadband satellite or public 5G as backhauling network. Strong hypofraction is proportionally and absolutely much more energy efficient than normal fractionation. Dr. Dipl.-Ing. Ann-Katrin Exeli, MSc 2.) Research Labs produce waste and freezers especially consume energy. (Talk Jürgen Orasche) Despite rational balancing following Pareto‘s principle where to place efforts in order to interfere, it is important to know the crucial points of energy consumption. I personally would suggest to replace much of the inner city traffic with these famous and elegant devices - for example: Gazelle Racefiets - original built 1981, Reynolds 753 tubing, Campagnolo Super Record complete, Near mint condition, no obsolescence included, in front of Max-Joseph’s Bridge Munich, painted in dedicated Bavarian blue & white 😂

Congratulations to Kenneth Deprez for winning the ISES 2024 ISES Europe Chapter Poster Competition! 🥇 In this poster, Kenneth discusses the design of a novel sensor that can measure 50 Hz magnetic fields. The sensor is needed to accurately quantify the long-term magnetic exposure in the vicinity of high voltage power lines. The sensor can measure both low fields, around 0.4 uT, for which a possible statistical relationship to long-term exposure and health effects is found and, high fields, 100 uT and 200 uT, which correspond to reference levels set by EU and the scientific community. Such a sensor was tested for about 4 months, in which it had a high uptime of 96% and a typical deviation of less then 5% with regard to the baseline. Title: "Watch The Power! Introducing #DTsynth, an innovative solution focused on synthesizing #DigitalTwins from existing #CyberPhysicalSystems. 🤝 AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, together with Technische Universität Graz and AVL, is actively engaged in advancing the learning of Digital Twins for cyber-physical systems. Notably, the successful learning of finite state machines from available system data has been accomplished. 🚘 Currently, the collaboration with AVL continues to explore techniques for reducing parameter space. The members of the FVV Board recently met in Frankfurt to discuss and approve the proposals submitted for the new research programme following the 2024 Spring Transfer + Networking Event. These include some interesting new research work: 💡A new orientation study addresses the question of how quickly the European #energy system can become GHG-neutral across technologies and sectors (e.g. #transport, #industry, households) while minimising cumulative greenhouse gas emissions. The project will start in July 2024 and results are expected by the end of 2025. 🚗🚛 Another research project is looking at life-cycle modelling and evaluation for the optimised design of #powertrain systems in passenger cars and commercial vehicles. The aim of this work is to extend the ›HyFlex-ICE‹ project with regard to the life-cycle-optimised design of mobile propulsion systems making both a first step towards methodically structuring the so far mainly unregulated subject area of #LCA of mobile propulsion systems and making it usable for vehicle concept assessment. 💡 The MATRICS research project is investigating MIMO and #AI-based operating strategies for thermal management systems of electrified and electric vehicles. 🚢 Another research project based on ›CCS on Ships‹ is committed to demonstrate CO2 value chains with innovative carbon capture technologies on a new versatile demonstration platform for exhaust gases from combustion engines and gas turbines.
