Sinn Power Plans Groundbreaking Floating Photovoltaic System in Bavaria Sinn Power, in collaboration with the Jais gravel and crushing plant in Gilching, Bavaria, is pioneering the development of the region’s first floating photovoltaic system with vertically positioned solar modules. The project, currently in the planning stages, has garnered strong support from regional agencies and local authorities. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬 - 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐀𝐆🌄 Green energy company naturstrom AG announced that they're embarking on their largest solar project yet: a 70-MWp photovoltaic (PV) park in Brandenburg! 🌿 Situated on 73 hectares (180.4 acres) of low-yielding land in Zeschdorf-Petershagen, this project is expected to produce around 73 million kWh of electricity each year—enough to power more than 22,000 three-person households! 🏡🏡🏡 Key Details: 🔌 The Petershagen PV park will connect to a new substation in the Oder-Spree district, 9 km from the site. ⚡ The power grid operator is expected to complete the connection to a 110-kV line this autumn. 🗓️ Commercial operations are targeted to begin in December. 🚜 Construction started in May, with the area cleared of WWII-era ammunition and weapons. 🌺 The project includes initiatives to promote biodiversity. Do you know what are battery parks and how they work? Partnering with Evecon, an Estonian renewable energy company, and the French solar energy producer CORSICA SOLE, we’ve begun building a 330 kV substation for Estonia's largest battery park complex in Kiisa. 🔋 The battery park will have a total capacity of 100 MW. 🏗️ Currently, we are designing the substation, and construction will start in the second half of the summer. 📅 The Kiisa battery park’s 330 kV substation will be completed by summer 2025. For the first time in Estonia, the battery park and substation will connect to the transmission network with a 330 kV alternating current underground cable. "This is an important and innovative project for us", said the head of major projects department Tee Tarmo. Battery parks are game changers and a new way forward because: ✅ They store excess energy and supply it when needed. ✅ They help stabilise the power grid. ✅ They make renewable energy more reliable. BIG NEWS – OUR VOLSTRUP PROJECT HAS BEEN PRIORITIZED BY THE MUNICIPALITY! One of our large-scale energy projects, Volstrup, has been selected, amongst many others, by the municipality to be prioritized and handled speedily. This means, that the project will soon enter the local planning process in the municipality and be one step closer to start building! The Volstrup project has an energy area of approx. 87ha, with a installed capacity of ~96MWp and will combine solar PV and BESS (battery energy storage systems). Our focus on biodiversity will be high on the agenda, and so will our consideration for the local community and securing the best environmental solutions. 🔋 We look forward to keep you posted! 🔋⚡💦 A NEW CHAPTER FOR SENNESET POWER PLANT 🌄 Nestled in the picturesque Sunnfjord municipality of Vestland county, Norway, the Senneset Power Plant has been equipped with our generator, producing nearly 2,000 kVA of clean energy. With a waterway extending 2060 meters, this efficient and eco-friendly project was completed in just nine months. 100% of the shares in Senneset Power Plant is owned by Småkraft AS and they apply the usual model, where the landowners retain the rights to the waterfall, and Småkraft leases the right to utilize the waterfall for a given period. Through this model, Småkraft and the landowners collaborate to create renewable energy, and the income from the power plant is shared during the lease period. When the waterfall lease agreement expires, the landowners will be able to take over the power plant and run it themselves. Also the construction work was effectively and solidly executed. The intake dam and the restoration of the terrain are beautifully done, and all the landowners are very satisfied. During the construction of the project, the use of concrete was significantly reduced to create a good climate-adapted facility that will deliver clean, renewable energy for many years. 💧 The plant's 1.8 MW Pelton turbine powers an average annual output of 4.9 GWh, contributing to Norway's green energy landscape. Today, Adèle, Q ENERGY (France) project manager of Ilots Blandin floating solar project tells us about the genesis of Europe’s biggest floating solar project, 74 MWp located in France. “Ilots Blandin floating solar plant, an ambitious project initiated by Q ENERGY, is a great example of how former gravel pits can be put to good use to generate renewable, local electricity. The floating PV plant will produce the equivalent of the electricity consumed by 37,000 people, equivalent to half the population of the Greater Saint-Dizier conurbation. It is the result of a close collaboration with ETABLISSEMENTS BLANDIN , who have trust us from the start of the project in 2019. Meanwhile, constructive discussions with the French administration enabled us to obtain the building permit in record time, before winning the national call for tenders the following year. Throughout the whole development phase of this project, we have been able to count on the support of the mayor of Perthes and her municipal council. They consider this project as an opportunity to revitalise the area.” Such a teamwork between various stakeholders made possible an unprecedented floating solar opportunity in whole Europe. South-east of Lyon, France, this new floating solar project is taking shape. Located on a gravel pit, we payed attention to the FPV design and "arrange the construction site to fit with the quarry activity to keep its operation fully active", says Marie, Project manager. “Floating solar is not standard. Indeed, each project is different and requires considering the site characteristics,” she explains. It is true no matter the project, all criteria and site parameters must be taken into account for preparing the design of a FPV plant and plan its construction smartly. From now on, our aiR Optim technology will facilitate the operation of the power plant, while being compatible with almost all photovoltaic panels on the market, and highly modular. Floatovoltaics ☀️ 🏞 #Floatingsolar, also known as floatovoltaics, is emerging as a promising and innovative solution to meet the growing energy demands in the United States whilst also conserving land space and utilising unused water bodies. Could this be the ideal solution for meeting our energy needs in an efficient way? This technology involves installing solar panels on bodies of water, such as lakes, reservoirs, and ponds, offering unique advantages over traditional land-based solar installations. By covering bodies of water with floating solar arrays, the technology reduces evaporation, which is especially crucial in regions facing water scarcity. A winery in California installed the world’s first floating PV panels back in 2008, and in 2016, when the Township of Sayreville, #NewJersey, laid plans to install a floating solar array on a retention pond at its water treatment plant. Key Projects in the United States: -The Walton Solar Project, located in #northcarolina , boasts a capacity of 6.4 megawatts (MW). -The Winnebago Solar Project in #minnesota stands out for its innovative use of floating solar panels on a wastewater treatment pond. -The Garnet Energy Facility is a large-scale floating solar project in #Florida with a capacity of 74.5 MW.
