AN UNPRECEDENTED CONSORTIUM DEDICATES TO FLOATING SOLAR TO IMPROVE THE DECARBONATION OF THE EU   To mark the end of the EU Sustainable weeks, we are glad to highlight a recent event which is very important for us.   On 17 and 18 September, our Heads of R&D were in Oslo to kick off an EU consortium about floating solar. This consortium called SuRE aims to collectively enhance floating solar as an ever more reliable and competitive solution for energy projects. Why is it called so? The 12 European companies gathered in this consortium named it that way to mark the criteria which make floating solar desirable: it needs to be … 🔄 Sustainable, ⚙Reliable, 💡 Efficient.   Who are these companies? We are glad to collaborate on this purpose with experts in energy, Institute for Energy Technology, TNO, BayWa r.e. Global, ZIMMERMANN PV-STAHLBAU GMBH & CO.KG, Laketricity, Sunlit Sea, SABIC, Metsolar EU - Custom Solar Solutions, Compáz, Fraunhofer-Institut für Solare Energiesysteme ISE, Stichting Deltares.   This consortium happens in the frame of EU HORIZON program which leads to adopt more widely sustainable energies to improve the European energy mix. For that very reason we are enthusiastic about what is to come. Research and development to progress towards more acceptable energy projects to make the world we live in more desirable is a strong driver for our company. Stay tuned for updates over the 3 years of this conglomerate.   In the end, taking on step back, the RETEX of this consortium will also serve the deployment of floating solar on a larger scale. Extending the improvement conclusions globally is a satisfying perspective as it meets our vision to make floating solar an essential energy worldwide! 🌞 4 MWp floating solar installation for UltraTech Cement in India completed This summer saw the completion of a 4 MWp floating solar project at UltraTech Cement's Awarpur facility in Maharashtra, India, result of a partnership between Ciel & Terre India and Amplus Solar KN One Power. The project installed on UltraTech cement plant water body provides electricity to the company, helping it reduce its carbon footprint. The unit is estimated to offset emissions amounting to 5 571.6 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per year. This realization demonstrates how renewable energy can support industrial giants in a more sustainable journey. It is as well another example of the potential of floating solar to transform industrial energy use by harnessing underutilized water surfaces to produce clean energy. Technically-speaking, the anchoring part of the floating solar project raised questions, made difficult by the proximity of the reservoir fencing and near-bank topography. The teams made this project possible by using advanced anchoring techniques to ensure the stability of the floating structure, for which the anchoring are foundations and must been designed thoughtfully.   #floatingsolar #india #project #anchoring #industry #solar #renewableenergy

🌞 Ciel & Terre’s floating solar success in India – RUMSL Omkareshwar, 120 MWp project We are excited to showcase our latest achievement: the 120 MWp Omkareshwar floating solar project in India, one of the largest of its kind globally! Located on the Omkareshwar reservoir, this large scale project completed by Ciel & Terre India reflects our commitment to innovative and sustainable energy solutions. The project in short: ⚡ 120 MWp capacity, contributing significantly to India’s renewable energy targets. ⚙ We utilized our advanced Hydrelio® aiR Optim floating system, which ensures high performance and adaptability in challenging water environments thanks to a holistic study of both the platform and its anchoring. 💪 The project implied complex logistical conditions, such as anchoring in deep waters and optimizing the integration of floating solar with ongoing reservoir activities. THE FLOATING SOLAR PROJECT TO GUESS LAST WEEK WAS… Saint-Savin! 🔎🏞   Saint Savin is the first floating solar plant in France using the Hydrelio® aiR Optim technology. Located in France near Lyon, this project, developed by Énerg'isère and EGREGA, supplied and designed by Ciel & Terre and built by Gensun and Ciel & Terre, will provide energy for many households in the region through its 11 MWp capacity. Its annual energy production of 14 GWh equivalent to 6 000 accommodations per year provide electricity for the whole village of Saint Savin.   We studied the viability of the project beforehand through various environmental studies (bathymetry, soil analysis...) to ensure that the quarry lake’s main activity would not be interrupted or disturbed. The most challenging part of the project we had to deal with was certainly the anchoring. Indeed, we had to find the best solution to combine durability and space optimisation, and that’s why we chose this particular design for the project. Afterwards, the anchoring installation demanding much technics because of the nature of the soil. CLEAN UP WALK 2024 – Let's continue to clean up our planet together 🚯♻ This year was the 5th edition of the clean up walk the French office of Ciel & Terre organizes. A first remarkable milestone anniversary thanks to the teams who make that possible year after year. 🎂 Last week, on 26 September, regular participants and newcomers walked around the office and filled altogether 10 bags of garbage of multiple kinds, from bottles to toys. Back in images and figures about the litter on the streets and parks. 👇 Five years after our first contribution, we are still as excited to be involved in this event. We were one of the 2 633 clean ups listed by World clean up day association in France, amount of garbage collected nationally and worldwide to be discovered in 2 weeks.
