In the wake of escalating climate crises, addressing gender disparities has emerged as vital in formulating efficient and inclusive climate solutions. At the recently concluded 2024 Skoll World Forum, the CIFAR Alliance participated in a "Gender Intentional Climate Solutions" panel exploring the gendered impact of #climatechange. Rohini Kamal, Nelly Ramírez Moncada, Maelis Carraro, AnnRita Njiru- Mugo, and Christabell Makokha, MGBA, shared insights on: - The importance of applying a gender lens to climate action - How gender-intentional approaches can enhance climate resilience and drive positive economic outcomes - Gender dynamics in the development of climate-smart innovations and - The necessity of inclusive, equitable strategies to address climate challenges effectively Watch the recording to learn more from the experts: https://lnkd.in/dHGwui6e The Rallying Cry Busara PayPal BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), BRAC University Catalyst Fund Wendy Chamberlin Catherine Highet

#ClimateJustice means acknowledging that some communities bear the brunt of the climate crisis. It also means understanding that not every region, institution, or community is equally responsible for past emissions or current lack of action and accountability. Climate justice is deeply intertwined with gender and #masculinities, as climate change exacerbates gender inequalities and impacts those already marginalized the most. Harmful ideas around masculinity prioritize competition, conflict, and economic power, overshadowing the care, compassion, and cooperation desperately needed to address the climate crisis. To create lasting change, we must unite in our efforts to tackle these systemic issues. At MenEngage Alliance, the #ClimateJusticeWorkingGroup connects gender justice, masculinities, and climate justice to elevate these links and shift the narrative. Let's prioritize solutions that uplift the voices of those most affected and meet their needs. It's time for equitable action! #EcoMen #GenderJustice #SustainableFuture #ActNow 💚🌿 laxman लक्ष्मण belbase बेल्वासे Nayoka Martinez-Bäckström Hanna Gunnarsson

Climate Change and Gender Equality are deeply intertwined. Check out this really accessible video explainer on why achieving gender equality is an important solution to climate change.
Is gender equality an underrated solution climate change? 🤔 We're so pleased to finally share the first episode of Climate+, our brand new series exploring the intersectionality of climate change and social justice in collaboration with Oxfam GB. We know that climate change, like many other things in this world, disproportionately impacts women, and that’s what we’re discussing in episode one. Women are often the backbone of communities across the world, yet when it comes to decision-making and negotiations on climate they’re often denied a seat at the table. That’s why climate activists like Joyce Koech, who we speak to in this episode, are fighting to ensure that girls have access to a quality education and to make this a key part of the climate conversation. Watch the episode here and let us know what you think in the comments! 💬 https://lnkd.in/eT52_wsJ #ClimateChange #ClimateCrisis #GenderEquality #WomensRights
