I stumbled across my original cover letter from 15 March 2017 when I first applied to Elsby 🗓 ✨ It read: "Elsby attracts me because of the smaller nature of the firm with large ambitions and the support and emphasis given to employees to become all-rounded individuals. The care for clients is as important as employees, and the focus on personal as well as professional development shows me an ambitious firm that I would be proud to be part of." ⌛ Seven years later, I am excited to say that my observations have held true. Elsby has consistently demonstrated its commitment to growth, and my career journey is great proof of that, as well as that of others around me. It’s been a remarkable journey, and I’m incredibly proud to be part of this team. 🌱 At Elsby, our core values shape our interactions with clients and guide our internal culture. Last night at my son's state fair, I saw the magic of teamwork in action! 🌟 The kids absolutely rocked it, showing up as a united team. They spoke confidently in front of a whole gym of people (!!), cheered each other on, and nailed their presentations. It reminded me of 3 key areas for building a high-performing team: 1. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤: When we work together and support one another, we can achieve incredible things. 2. 𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐍𝐞𝐰: Believing in yourself and each other makes tackling new challenges exciting and rewarding. 3. 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭: Having a leader who guides, believes in, and pushes you is essential. And the fun celebration afterward, with food from each state, was a fantastic bonus! 🎉 Looking for your team to shine like this and you're not sure how? Since posting about my first Spartan race earlier this year, I've continued my healthy journey, and this past weekend, I took part in my third race of 2024, the Beast 21km with 30 obstacles in Snowbasin Mountain, Utah. It's a challenge that demands strength, skill, and sheer grit. The elevation climb of 4500 feet and uneven terrain tested my limits, leaving my lungs and legs burning. With no hill or elevation training back home in Miami, I was definitely caught off guard from the offset and knew I was in for a much tougher and longer morning than I had anticipated. It was, without a doubt, the toughest physical challenge I've ever faced. The good news? I made it, albeit slower than anticipated. During it, I was thinking, "Never again," but just 24 hours later, I found myself already strategizing on how to beat my time – so I’ll see you again next year, Utah! While a personal post, this experience truly showcased what our bodies and minds can achieve when we push our limits. Connecting this to my professional life, the training and discipline that I invested in the process have undoubtedly made me more focused and sharp during my working days – win-win! John Paciga and Roger Barlow are no stranger to these events as they always seem to be #training for the next one. Joining our seasoned #veterans in running up the mountain were Maggie Rogers and Kyle O'Neil. John always tells me that his favorite aspect of the race is that you get to #achieve something as a team. There is a #pride he takes in ensuring the #success of others, be it their first race or their fifth race. This #mindset is evident throughout our office.
