Throughout my career, I've never received a farewell email that truly celebrates a departing colleague's achievements and the impact they've had on our company's growth. 🔔 Isn't it time we changed that narrative? Imagine a "Departing Wisdom" session where the individual leaving the company generously shares their victories, hard-earned lessons, and invaluable insights from their journey with us. It's about turning these farewells into powerful learning experiences for everyone involved. This would also instill a sense of gratitude and fulfilment in the individual for acknowledging his contribution! Y'all! I expected my first full summer of consulting to be slow as molasses given that our industry tends to slow down at this time of year. Color me shocked and fortunate that I have had more opportunities to do incredible things than I ever could have anticipated! And, while a lot of the work I'm doing continues to build on things I've done over many, many years in my career, I'm thrilled that I still get to do new things all the time! Last week I had the opportunity to facilitate a peer group of HR executives through my work with the Mahoney Performance Institute. If you've ever worked with me, you know that I love the opportunity to engage in rich conversation - whether it's hosting a talk show, delivering a training, convening a panel of experts, or just sitting around a campfire. In this episode of #JayWalking I’m reflecting on last weeks inaugural Career Pathways Tiger Team Speed Networking event last Wednesday along side the importance of #InternalMobility. As one of the managers participating, I was thrilled to connect with so many talented professionals in Chicago office. Other similar events took place simultaneously in our SF and NY offices, as well as remote participants. Give me your thoughts on this as a practical idea to foster employee appreciation. “Implementing a six-week job rotation program for new hires in all corporations would allow them to experience and understand the various levels of work involved in the organization. This approach could foster a greater appreciation for the challenges faced at lower levels, enhance interdepartmental communication, and develop a well-rounded skill set among employees. By gaining firsthand experience in different roles, new hires could better grasp the company’s operations, leading to improved teamwork and potentially more innovative problem-solving. Additionally, this program could help identify the strengths and interests of new employees, guiding them to roles where they can contribute most effectively.”
