8 Safety Tips for Drivers ☑️Look out for pedestrians everywhere, at all times. ☑️Use extra caution when driving in hard-to-see conditions, such as nighttime or bad weather. ☑️Slow down and be prepared to stop when turning or otherwise entering a crosswalk. ☑️Yield to pedestrians in crosswalks and stop well back from the crosswalk to allow other vehicles to see the crossing pedestrians so they can stop too. ☑️Never pass vehicles stopped at a crosswalk. There may be people crossing where you can’t see. ☑️Never drive under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. ☑️Follow the speed limit, especially around people on the street, in school zones. and in neighborhoods where children are present. ☑️Be extra cautious when backing up and look for pedestrians. The CVSA International Roadcheck, commonly referred to as DOT Week or Blitz Week, is the largest targeted enforcement program on commercial motor vehicles in the world. This year’s DOT Week takes place from today, Tuesday, May 14 through Thursday, May 16. On average, officials are anticipated to inspect nearly 15 trucks every minute across North America. This adds up to roughly 65,000 vehicles inspected across North America over these three days! This year's focus will be on Tractor Protection Systems, among other things. The long-awaited coordination of Europe's traffic police, Roadpol, is about to kick off three weeks of extraordinary roadside checks targeting trucks and buses, known as Truck&Bus. 👉 The first series of 2024 checks is scheduled from Monday, Feb. 19 to Sunday, Feb. 25, and will take place in close cooperation with the European Labor Authority. The checks will cover every aspect of road safety, from the vehicles themselves to the condition of drivers. 🚛 Items such as the technical condition, size and weight of vehicles, as well as driving licenses, compliance with driving and rest times and the regularity of the tachograph for drivers will be closely examined. Truck loading and accompanying transport documents will not be overlooked either. 📌 The other two weeks of 2024 Truck&Bus checks will take place May 15-19 and November 11-17.Road safety is a top priority!
