#News from #Ukraine | We are pleased to announce the successful advocacy efforts of #CIPE’s partners in Ukraine. On September 17, the Parliament of Ukraine passed a draft law to reform the State Customs Service (SCS). This legislation, a top 10 priority for the business community, was strongly advocated by CIPE partners, including the National Business Coalition, the Ukrainian Business Council, and the Economic Expert Platform, for over a year. All their proposals were included in the final draft. CIPE played a key role by fostering public-private dialogue, engaging with parliament members and international partners, and organizing national business forums and conferences to support the reform. The draft law introduces several important measures: ⋄ A transparent selection process for the SCS head, with involvement from international organizations. ⋄ Re-certification for all employees. ⋄ Independent international representatives, nominated by the business community, will make up 50% of the appraisal commission. ⋄ Increased salaries for customs officials. This reform aligns with Ukraine’s commitments under the EU Ukraine Facility and the National Revenue Strategy for 2024-2030. Center for International Private Enterprise
