#CentralAsia | The Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), in partnership with the International Business Council (IBC), invites business associations and chambers from Central Asia to join the 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 for business association leaders. This three-day course will be held in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, from 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟑 𝐭𝐨 𝟏𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒, and is open to participants from Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Jeff Lightfoot, CIPE’s Director for Europe, led an insightful discussion on 𝘍𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘜𝘬𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘦’𝘴 𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯: 𝘊𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘺𝘻𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘙𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘌𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘤 𝘙𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘭, exploring innovative solutions for rebuilding. #News from #Ukraine | The Government of Ukraine has approved the SME Development Strategy through 2027. This strategic document integrates recommendations from CIPE partners, including members of the Ukrainian Business Council and the Economic Expert Platform. Key recommendations include: 🔹Reforming the state control system 🔹Re-electing the leadership of the State Tax Service, State Customs Service, and Bureau of Economic Security 🔹Enhancing business-government interactions 🔹Addressing the human capital deficit 🔹Maintaining the simplified taxation system 🔹Deregulating and liberalizing market legislation 🔹Compensating SMEs for losses from Russia's full-scale aggression against Ukraine 🔹Developing a system to cover military risks The Ukrainian Ministry of Economy anticipates that implementing this strategy will improve the economic freedom index and reduce the unemployment rate from 18.3% to 11%. In April 2024, CIPE organized a series of meetings with business associations and analytical centers to discuss the draft strategy. Following these discussions, partners submitted proposed amendments to the Ministry of Economy for consideration.

#WEChamps | As part of an ongoing collaboration between two organizations in #Azerbaijan and #Georgia, a productive exchange trip took place on August 20-27. Fourteen representatives from the Support to Women’s Development and Education Public Union (SWDE PU) traveled to Georgia to meet with peers from the Women Business Council in Georgia (WBCG) in Borjomi and Tbilisi. In Borjomi, they explored local developments, identified opportunities in the tourism sector, and engaged with women entrepreneurs to exchange insights and best practices. In Tbilisi, they focused on strengthening ties with the Azerbaijani community. The discussions emphasized the importance of ongoing support and training, with both groups committing to continue their collaboration online. The trip concluded with a fashion show, which led to agreements for future joint exhibitions and product development. Initiated and supported by #CIPE's project "Strengthening the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem by Networking Regional Women’s Chambers of Commerce and Business Associations" (WE-Champs), funded by the U.S. Department of State - Secretary's Office of Global Women's Issues, this exchange highlights the importance of regional cooperation in empowering women entrepreneurs.
