Wing-in-ground craft have been gaining popularity in recent times. They make for great feeder assets to complement more dense passenger and frieght routes between hubs. They also are capable of providing point-to-point services for coastal communities. The example from REGENT, is aiming to do just that. "REGENT’s all-electric seagliders are said to reduce the time and cost of transporting people and goods between coastal destinations. The hydrofoiling wing-in-ground (WIG) craft brings together advanced modern technology from multiple industries – including electric propulsion, hydrofoils, modern vehicle controls, and fly-by-wire systems – to revolutionize WIG capabilities, providing wave tolerance, safe operations, and passenger comfort. Taking a risk-based approach in the absence of existing rules and regulations, LR will support REGENT through the maritime certification process, including advancing its design basis agreement (DBA) with the US Coast Guard and defining the certification pathway for non-US seagliders." Key developments to look out for: 1. Provision of adequate charging facilities at origin and destination ports. 2. Provision of handling facilities at ports for passenger and cargo loading and unloading. 3. Adequate training for the crew to operate WIG craft safely and effectively. 4. Ensuring a good demand-supply balance is maintained for WIG craft to best utilize the assets. How do you view this development? Feel free to comment below. #sustainableshipping #innovation

RMI , Mission Possible Partnership, and the North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE) are hosting a webinar tomorrow (18th June) on 'Providing Truck Charging Solutions in Southern California'. Over 1.8 million trucks are on the road in California each day. Most of these still run on diesel fuel, bringing harmful air pollution and carbon emissions into neighbouring communities. Starting this year, under California’s Advanced Clean Fleets Rule, fleets must buy only zero-emissions drayage trucks, and all drayage trucks must be zero-emissions vehicles by 2035. Overall, this regulation will lead to 70 percent of heavy-duty trucks on California roadways being zero emissions by 2042. Providing sufficient charging infrastructure in the right locations is essential to enabling this transition. Join us to hear the latest research from experts at RMI alongside real-world examples of deployment from the North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE), Zeem, and BGIS. SC WILL DENY 6-3 What’s inexplicable is how his Excellancy’s climate brain trust has once again recklessly put an emission reduction rule in legal jeopardy. They think they’ve covered their behinds by including EVs in IRA for apriori Congressional cover in making EVs the only way to comply. Tis an EV mandate 6 ways on any Sunday. Congressional cover meant to cure the deficiency that sank CPP1 is wishful zealot thinking. This rule will not pass SC muster, surely a 6-3 demise.

California's Advanced Clean Fleets (ACF) regulation, adopted in October 2023 by the California Air Resources Board (CARB), aims to reduce emissions from commercial vehicles by promoting zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) adoption. However, the California Trucking Association (CTA) challenged the regulation, arguing that CARB needs a Clean Air Act waiver from the EPA. CARB requested this waiver in November 2023. An EPA public hearing on August 14, 2024, will address this request, with significant implications for national emission standards. CARB has delayed enforcement for large fleets pending EPA's decision. #CleanFleets #ZeroEmissions #ClimateAction #CARB #EPA #EnvironmentalPolicy

2028 is the go live year for EfW to be included in the UK Emissions Trading Scheme. A super complex area, with the potential for significant financial burdens on local authorities already buckling under the threat of s114 notices. With no direct control over what residents place in their residual waste bins (Absorbent Hygiene Products particularly spring to mind) and four years to prepare, concentrating efforts now to drive waste up the hierarchy has become more important than ever. Disposal and Unitary authorities - are you ready for it?

The future of transport cannot be limited to trading congestion-inducing petrol cars for electric counterparts - we need to change how we move. The Government acknowledged the vital role of powered light vehicles in its 2021 Transport Decarbonisation Plan and collaborated with industry on a roadmap with the Joint Action Plan. Now, the Government must provide a tailored grants and incentives package that recognizes the pivotal role of these vehicles in decarbonization, congestion reduction, and affordable personal mobility.
MCIA's Action Plan Scorecard highlights the Government's shortfall on its Action Plan commitments. It's time for grants and incentives that reflect the mobility and environmental benefits of powered light vehicles, fostering a modal shift away from less efficient transport modes. MCIA launched its Action Plan Scorecard to hold the Government to account for its lack of delivery on our Joint Action Plan. You can read the Scorecard here: https://lnkd.in/e8qswwdu
