Lecture by Benoit ROMBAUT on Thursday, 12 September, Hall B, 1:55pm: Textile #recycling is a vital frontier for a more #sustainable world. Clothing alone accounts for around 10 percent of greenhouse gas emissions from human activity, and much of the pre- and post-consumer waste generated by the textile industry ends up incinerated or in landfill. ANDRITZ is at the core of the movement to provide industrially and economically viable solutions that bring circularity to the world of natural and synthetic fibers. The start-up of the first of its kind industrial plant for automated #sorting and recycling of textile #waste at Nouvelles Fibres Textiles shows perfect case of successful industry collaborations with ANDRITZ as central hub of this network. The innovative approach lies in the combination of these two areas in one process. It allows to provide precise recycling feedstocks for different downstream recycling processes. This results in a higher material quality and thus improving the economic viability of #textile #recycling. Dornbirn-GFC would like to say thank you for the support with this lecuter and the cooperation as sponsor. 63rd Dornbirn GFC 2024 & 4th Dornbirn GFC Innovation Day, 11 - 13 September, Dornbirn, Austria, Live in person & Online Programme + Information: www.dornbirn-gfc.com #circulareconomy #fibercongress #textileindustry #fiberinnovation #circulareconomy #fibercongress

Launched today, the SOLSTICE project supports sustainable growth in the textile sector by raising customer awareness, enhancing recycling with new sorting methods, ensuring feedstock traceability using the Digital Product Passport, and providing data and guidelines to decision-makers. Led by Axel'One, an open innovation platform in chemistry-environment in France, the SOLSTICE consortium is EU-wide and covering the whole value chain in textiles and plastics. The project spans 42 months, aiming at advancing climate-neutral and circular economy practices within the textile industry. ➡ The SOLSTICE project is based on a holistic approach that encompasses all stages of waste prevention, guided by a 5R strategy: Reject/Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Reuse and Recycle. These solutions will be tested and refined in demonstrations conducted in 4 European cities and regions: Grenoble (France), Berlin (Germany), Prato (Italy), and Catalonia (Spain). ✅ As part of a consortium of 24 partners working on the project Spin-PET srl “ Solutions for your Innovation" will work in WP5.3. Spin-PET srl “ Solutions for your Innovation" will investigate and will optimize Reactive Extrusion process as upcycling stategy to produce PA or PET recycled pellets with recovered Elastane form waste textile. ♻ More information on the SOLSTICE project on its website: www.solstice-project.eu

🌿 Exciting News from C&R! 🌿 We are thrilled to share the success of the recent sustainability conference, which saw an incredible turnout of over 200 industry leaders from textiles, home textiles, and other sectors. 🌱 Our Chairman, Mr C R Rai, also Co-Chair of the Textiles Committee of PHDCCI, delivered a powerful message on the importance of environmental sustainability. He highlighted the urgent need to adopt eco-friendly practices deeply rooted in Indian culture. Mr. Rai reminded us of traditional practices that naturally supported sustainability—using cotton bags, repurposing old newspapers, and dining on biodegradable banana leaves. He urged us to revisit these methods to combat the detrimental effects of plastic waste. ♻ "We must look within our own culture for solutions to protect our environment. Let's reduce waste and embrace reusable and biodegradable products," Mr Rai emphasized. 🌏 He also stressed the importance of teaching our children the values of environmental protection from a young age, fostering a sustainable future for generations. 🌿 The the conference concluded with Mr Rai and the Chair of the Textile Committee of PHDCCI is awarding certificates of merit to our distinguished speakers. 🏅 Check out some highlights from the event in the photos below! 📸 #Sustainability #EnvironmentalProtection #GreenLiving #IndianCulture #EcoFriendly #CR #HEA #PHDCCI
