Master Builders Queensland have hit the nail on the head. Suspended timber subfloor houses definitely need to be rolled back to NCC 2019 in QLD and who would not want all energy assessors to be accredited and constantly audited! Well done Master Builders Queensland. "Provide concessions to the energy efficiency requirements for raised houses (built on stumps) so that this type of house can continue to be built. Require all energy assessors to be accredited and audited." #sustainability #greenbuilding #environmentally #friendly #sustainableconstruction #netzero #climatechange #renewableenergy #ecofriendly #sustainableliving #cleantech #sustainabledevelopment #carbonneutral #zerocarbon #sustainablematerials #greenarchitecture #greenenergy #greenconstruction #energyefficiency #nathers #ncc #ncc2022 #energyefficiency www.energylab.com.au
As part of our Home Truths campaign, we’ve been calling for the roll back of the unwarranted changes to NCC 2022, specifically the new accessibility and energy efficiency requirements. We’ve been asked a lot by industry and consumers what this actually means. We’re calling for ten specific detailed technical amendments. For accessible housing these include exemptions include from some of the requirements, changes to measurement thresholds, and responsibility for compliance. When it comes to energy efficiency, we’re advocating for concessions to the requirements for raised houses (built on stumps) so this type of house can continue to be built, and for all energy assessors to be accredited and audited. Supporting Residents of Housing Sector. Giving a voice to the many unheard and ignored. If I reach out to connect to you it's usually just to gain your sector knowledge and guidance, always grateful.
The vast funding allocation, juxtaposed with the negligible progress in bringing homes up to standard, raises significant concerns rather than instilling hope. This discrepancy prompts valid questions about the efficiency and direction of the resources. Again there is an urgent need for greater transparency and collaboration to ensure that funding is utilised effectively. #GreenSquareAccord #FundingDiscrepancy #HousingStandards #ResourceUtilisation #Transparency
We have upgraded 59 of our customers’ homes thanks to our successful bid for funding from the Social Homes Decarbonisation Fund last year. We secured the government funding to help improve the energy efficiency of our existing homes. Improvement works include installing air-source heat pumps, new windows, new external doors, solar panels, whole house ventilation and loft insulation. Find out more here: bit.ly/3U6cw3I

Really interesting Industry and Parliament Trust breakfast discussion this morning on green homes and the "retrofit revolution". There was broad agreement that to make energy improvements to more homes there was a need to: - Look beyond individual homes at area based approaches. - Train more skilled installers, builders and advisors - Do more to help people understand the importance of retrofit and the upgrades they can make to their homes - Help increase householder trust in energy efficiency improvements and new technology - Understand how to encourage landlords to make energy efficiency improvements - Find solutions that work for listed buildings and home in conservation areas

Duquesne Light Company is requesting a $133 million annual increase in electric distribution rates from the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC), effective January 1, 2025. The proposal includes new rate mechanisms, such as an EV Time of Use Pilot and Community Development Rider, aiming to raise residential, commercial, and industrial bills by approximately 6.5%. Businesses should consider engaging in the rate-setting process or exploring new energy management options offered by Duquesne Light to mitigate these rising costs. #utilitiesmanagement #utilitiesmanager #energycosts #energymarket #energyconsumption #energycosts #energyanalysis #utilityrates

Let's get our voices heard. What are you experiencing as a barrier to community energy projects? I see: real challenges sourcing the right kind of money local practical and financial support. time and energy - volunteers leading projects - gov sourced financing a salaried project manager. lack of consultants and specialist available capacity of the grid planning laws and restrictions Lack of understanding by wider public awareness of all the possible options Housing stock old and expensive for whole house retrofit New housing standards https://lnkd.in/ekivPYgi

The City of Philadelphia is eyeing major energy efficiency retrofits in 14 municipal buildings. The city is aiming to save energy and reduce costs while improving the ENERGY STAR score of the buildings. A project of this scale is possible through Pennsylvania's Guaranteed Energy Savings Act (GESA) program, which allows municipalities and school districts to finance energy efficiency projects using the utility cost savings that result from the project without an upfront allocation. State programs, such as PA's Guaranteed Energy Savings Act, utilize performance contracting by partnering with Energy Service Companies (ESCOs). The partnership facilitates large-scale upgrades of building components, including lighting, HVAC, water systems, etc., through a budget-neutral process. ESCOs offer investment-grade financial guarantees that project savings will be realized, reducing the risk of a project's outcomes. https://lnkd.in/gnWyFbYv Learn more about the project here - https://lnkd.in/ezBZgx6p #ESCO #energyservicecompanies #energyefficiency #ESPC #energysavings

Ottawa Community Housing Corporation (OCH) announces new energy-saving projects 🌿 OCH and Hydro Ottawa have recently announced the installation of 37 solar arrays—groups of solar panels—at all of their new developments and some older buildings. The arrays have the capacity to generate half a million kilowatt hours. They plan to install 260 heat pumps and about two dozen more "building automation systems" throughout their buildings. One of our projects with OCH, Mosaïq Phase 1, includes solar panels on the roof (see photo). At the time of completion, this apartment block at 811 Gladstone Avenue was the largest Passive House building of its type in the country. The project incorporates additional sustainable practices to achieve an environmentally conscientious redevelopment while maximizing on government energy grants. Read more about OCH's new energy-saving initiatives in an article for CBC News: https://lnkd.in/eHiFu4Hz 🌿 #OttawaArchitecture #ThinkingGreen #SustainableBuildings
