Join us TONIGHT for a ‘romantic’ debate at The Architect, to discuss whether our greenbelt should be protected, or should be used to alleviate the housing crisis. As our cities expand and the need for housing intensifies, the greenbelt faces scrutiny. Others believe it is an arbitrary concept that limits the building of sufficient housing and valuable economic growth. 6 O’Clock Sessions Imagine a place where public, politicians and professionals come together to debate the future of our cities. As a firm believer that we should try our best to live in balance with Mother Earth and all her creatures, I struggle with finding that balance in modern society. Currently, my hubby, our two kitties, and I live in an HOA. That’s a Home Owners Association for those who like me, had no idea what HOA stood for much less meant before moving where we live now. I grew-up in the middle of no where. Acres and acres of property, woods, grass, trees, hillside. Neighbors had acres and acres more. The nearest town had one stop sign, one gas station, and a volunteer fire department. That was a three and a half mile bike ride to said gas station (where the stop sign existed). Now, I live on less than and acre, or maybe even less than half an acre? As ‘nice’ as it is to have the luxuries of urban living, I dislike much of it and also appreciate it too — I struggle with it. I would love to have even just 5–10 acres. Keep approximately ten percent of that for us and leave the remaining ninety percent for mother nature and her beloved creations to live and thrive in peace. Only venturing into ‘the unknown’ when I want to go exploring respectfully and responsibly. Living in connection to and with nature, while having a safe space from slightly separated from it. At least as best as any of us can. https://lnkd.in/d-TzRDVD

Factors like distracted driving, lack of bike lanes, inadequate road infrastructure, and speeding are all contributing to this serious issue. 👎 What can we do? Legislative measures, improved infrastructure, and community initiatives are key steps toward creating safer streets. We must champion change and ensure our roads are safe for everyone. Grand Junction City Council - District A, Real Estate Investor/Property Manager, Community Advocate, Retired Police Detective, Aspiring Peach Farmer
Greg Walcher articulates a perspective I've been contemplating for some time. His insights into the complexities of the Dolores National Monument proposal resonate with my own thoughts, especially considering the recent resolution passed by the City of Grand Junction Council in support of the monument. I’ve been hesitant to voice my concerns, but this article has encouraged me to share my reflections on the potential impacts. More to come—stay tuned! #PublicLands #ConservationDebate #DoloresCanyons #EnvironmentalPolicy #WesternSlope
