Congratulations to Fire Chief Jim Wyatt on his retirement!
He served the City of Gilroy for over 10 years. During this time, he made significant contributions to operational readiness, the development of COVID-19 policies and protocols, fire policy development, and leadership succession and planning.
He leaves behind a legacy of public service, teamwork, and a collaborative spirit, and he will be greatly missed.
As a proponent for the Kennedy/Shanahan ticket, I respectfully disagree with your assessment of the vice-presidential pick. Shanahan's age should not be a disqualifying factor. Youthful energy and innovative thinking can be assets in addressing the complex challenges facing our nation.
Secondly, Shanahan's support for left-wing causes should be seen as a positive trait, indicating a commitment to progressive values and social justice.
Thirdly, the fact that Shanahan received a settlement should not overshadow their potential to contribute meaningfully to governance. Many successful leaders have come from diverse backgrounds, and Shanahan's experiences may offer a unique perspective on economic and social issues.
Lastly, the primary criteria for a vice-presidential candidate should not solely be their ability to step into the presidency if needed. While that is an important consideration, a vice president also plays a crucial role in supporting the president's agenda.
In conclusion, I believe that Shanahan's selection as vice-presidential candidate adds a valuable dimension to the Kennedy campaign, and I remain optimistic about their potential to lead alongside Robert F. Kennedy Jr
👤 In this edition of The POV, Konrad S. examines the professional history and presidential candidacy of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. His politics has continually sparked debate in a deeply polarised American election.
Szumiński argues that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. emerges as a significant independent candidate due to his illustrious family background and contentious stance on vaccines. Despite his controversial views, Szumiński contends that Kennedy Jr.'s environmental activism and legal work demonstrate a commitment to change despite his polarising opinions, especially on vaccines, have alienated some voters.
Yet, Szumiński believes Kennedy Jr. could attract disillusioned voters seeking an alternative to the current political dichotomy, positioning him as a potentially serious contender in the 2024 US election.

ON ROBERT F. KENNEDY JR AND HIS FAILING CAMPAIGN: Although I've occasionally written favorably about RFK Jr., the possibility wasn't high that I'd actually vote for him for President ... but I have a) been intrigued by his Presidential run), b) agreed with him on some things (not all), and c) liked his apparent willingness to shakeup and improve what looks to me to be a great system (the American system of governance) which, tragically though, is corrupted imo by highly compromised, amoral (in some cases, immoral), inept and unpatriotic leadership ...... and so, unlike with Pres. Biden, there was SOME small chance that I'd vote for him for President ..... until yesterday.
Yesterday he picked his VP candidate (N. Shanahan) who is 1) an under 40 y/o individual with literally no resume in business or politics of any substance in the Presidential context, 2) a left-wing cause supporter (I know, that's a plus for some of you), 3) likely a billionaire (thus able to fund their campaign, probably the reason they were selected), but who 4) instead of earning the money they have by conceiving, organizing and creating something of value -- received it (or, at least, the vast majority of it) in a settlement from someone else who did.
There is literally no reason to believe that IF (God-forbid) RFK Jr died while occupying the White House, this person (N. Shanahan, his VP pick) would make even a competent President (let alone a very good or great one) .... which is -- or at least should be -- the first and most important criteria for VP candidate (ie. running mate) selection.
Sure, a campaign will follow from now till November (especially in swing states, so I'll likely miss most of it) ... and campaigns can sometimes make a difference .... but I can definitely say that if the election were held today, my chance of voting for Robert F Kennedy Jr or the Kennedy-Shanahan ticket went, yesterday, from SLIM to NONE.
God Bless America! 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Well done Ma'am Lisa Franchetti!
As we navigate the complexities of modern defence and security, it's imperative to recognize the invaluable contributions of #womeninleadership roles within the armed forces.
Yet, despite significant strides towards gender equality, there remains resistance to their increased representation in these crucial positions, as we can read from the comments to the post bellow.
The benefits of #diversity in leadership are well-documented. Diverse perspectives foster #innovation, enhance decision-making, and strengthen organizational #resilience. In the armed forces, where adaptability and strategic vision are paramount, embracing a diverse leadership cadre is not just a matter of principle, but one of operational necessity.
However, despite the undeniable progress made, challenges persist. From entrenched cultural biases to systemic barriers, women continue to face hurdles in ascending to leadership roles within the armed forces. These obstacles not only limit the career advancement of talented individuals but also deprive our institutions of the diverse talent pool necessary to tackle the multifaceted challenges of today's security landscape.
Let us reaffirm our commitment to overcoming resistance and building a future where women's leadership in the armed forces is not only accepted but celebrated as a cornerstone of strength and excellence.
Together, we can forge a more #inclusive, #resilient and #effective armed forces for generations to come.

Yes, Ma'am, Lisa Franchetti! Representation is key in any organization. The most qualified person for the job, who is also a woman, joins our Joint Chiefs of Staff for the first time in our Country's history. I know how much my sister has inspired me, I can only imagine how she has inspired so many across the country through her hard work and representation. Let's Go!
