In December 2023, the Board of Directors of Gildan plunged the company into chaos by abruptly terminating high-performing and long-standing CEO, Glenn Chamandy, without cause or credible explanation. This led to at least nine significant long-time shareholders publicly demanding that Mr. Chamandy be reinstated. In response, the Board doubled down and fast-tracked the appointment of former University of Louisville Director of Athletics, Vince Tyra, as CEO - a decision that has since resulted in the resignation of seven directors including the chair of the company.
