We are delighted to introduce and celebrate two outstanding interns who have recently joined our team. Please join us in welcoming Dempsey Smalls, our Human Resources Intern, and Yovanna Contreras, our Emergency Management Intern! Dempsey Smalls was born in Boise, ID, but has lived in Hutto for most of his life. He is attending Texas A&M University–Central Texas, where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management. Outside of school, Dempsey's interests include playing soccer, traveling to new places, and working out. In the future, he aspires to venture into entrepreneurship and establish his own business.   Dempsey has accomplished various work assignments since the day he started.  He assists in organizing interview materials, preparing materials for new employee orientation, and maintaining physical and digital filing systems for efficient document storage and retrieval.  Dempsey has also supported our summer camp program daily and assists the HR office with any requests from our employees. Dempsey demonstrates his willingness to work hard and absorb as much information as possible while serving his internship term with the City of Hutto.  We are very fortunate to have him as part of the #TeamHutto!” Yovanna Contreras is currently attending Texas State University, where she is pursuing her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Psychology. Yovanna hopes to continue her education further and pursue a Masters in Public Administration. Her current career aspirations include going into education or emergency management policy. Her supervisor, Jake Isbell, had the following to share:   "Yovanna Contreras has assisted with many important projects, such as the Preparedness Portfolio, Event Action Plans, and the Hazard Mitigation Plan. From her very first day, Yovanna has demonstrated elite initiative, going above and beyond with excellent research and organization abilities. Her excellent communication skills and quick learning ability have proven to be a valuable team member for the Department of Emergency Management."
