The recent amendments to the Illinois Day and Temporary Labor Services Act target the staffing industry with new and disruptive requirements. The confusing law was only made worse by hastily adopted emergency rules, which are vague and near impossible to implement. As the Illinois Department of Labor (IL DOL) collects feedback on permanent rules, staffing firms must provide critical input and demand clarification on key issues. Otherwise, staffing firms and their clients could face steep penalties for inadvertently getting it wrong. Now is the time for our industry and our clients to show up and make our voices heard. In addition to submitting comments to the IL DOL by October 2, 2023, we encourage all staffing firms to participate in the IL DOL’s Public Hearing on Thursday September 28, 2023. • Show up; Register here: https://lnkd.in/gyZHYwz5 • Speak up; mail DOL.Rules@illinois.gov, and request to testify at the hearing • Be heard; submit written comments to DOL.Rules@illinois.gov on or before October 2, 2023 Together, we can make an impact.

Here is an opportunity to make a real difference for public safety, and #Intrado is going to take it. The Bureau of Labor Statistics is soliciting comment RIGHT NOW on changing the Standard Occupational Classification of 911 telecommunicators to public safety personnel. Does anyone seriously doubt that these professionals are public safety personnel? The Federal Register notice linked below may look like legal gibberish, but filing comments does not have to be complicated. Short, declarative sentences will do fine. Comments are due on August 12th and can be submitted electronically at www.regulation.gov referencing Docket ID BLS-2024-0001 and the phrase ‘‘Standard Occupation Classification (SOC) – Updates for 2028.” Join us in using your voice. #PublicSafety #911 #It'sAboutTime.
