Safety case and waste consultancy opportunities. As well as those rather wonderful Waste Consultancy roles that I've been posting about in the last few days, I have some equally wonderful staff Safety case opportunities. "Don't we all", I hear you say.... So what sets these apart from all of those other roles out there? Well, in all honesty, that depends. It depends on the individual, what you want from your career, and the culture and environment that you feel most comfortable working in. Everybody is different. I try and work with a selection of clients that offer different things. Some more defined in their needs and some more encouraging, supporting the individual to grow in the direction that their capability, or skillset, can take them. Some of those clients are large, award-wining, multi-disciplinary consultancies, some are smaller organisations that offer the chance to develop a wider gamut of experience across a wider variety of projects. What I'm looking for are focused Waste and Safety professionals, at Senior or Principal level, or those whose next career step is into these positions. People who want to feel valued for their contribution and see a clearer career path within a company with similar values. Department Manager – Water & Wastewater Job Description The Department Manager is responsible for providing strategic leadership, direction, and management of a specific department within the organization. This position oversees all operational aspects of the department, including budget management, resource allocation, project planning, performance evaluation, and staff development. As well as oversee the country's financial performance (P&L). They play a crucial role in driving the department's goals and objectives, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services, and fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. Understand client requirements for each project or contract and align them with system-defined milestones. Oversee project delivery across operations teams. Collaborate closely with the Head of Project Management, Technical Office Managers, and Procurement Managers to establish a feedback mechanism for ongoing understanding of their development needs and areas for improvement. Engage with Heads of Project Management and Project Managers to gain insights into projects status and report to the management any challenges or expectations. Monitor sales and pre-sales opportunities, revenue recognition within projects, and develop insights for discussion with company management, along with tracking additional action plans when necessary. Collaborate with the finance department to understand the status of invoicing and collection for both past and current projects, and report as appropriate. Foster effective collaboration between different departments within the company to ensure smooth operations. Define project goals, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders. Allocate resources, including personnel, budget, and equipment, to support project execution. Monitor project progress, identify risks, and proactively implement mitigation strategies. Foster effective communication and collaboration among project teams, stakeholders, and clients. Conduct a monthly review in partnership with all required stakeholders to assess the status of project deliveries, encompassing revenue and billing. Collaborate with the finance and procurement teams to strategically evaluate and enhance payment terms with suppliers, ensuring optimal financial arrangements and fostering mutually beneficial relationships. Lead and oversee all operational processes, including development, maintenance, orientation, and optimization. Ensure timely and accurate reporting, meeting all necessary requirements. Collaborate with the Head of Project Management to guarantee the accuracy and currency of delivery reports, encompassing progress reports, project manager utilization, and revenue forecasts. Coordinate with the sales and Bidding teams to gain insights into available opportunities, ensuring that project planning and sizing align with these opportunities. Generate monthly project status reports, highlighting upcoming major milestones

“My plant manager does not go to bed thinking about air limits. That should not be their job.” I met up with a senior industrial operations leader recently who was upset that they got an air violation because of their spreadsheet. No, a spreadsheet cannot cause a violation but it certainly contributed to it A spreadsheet is not sufficient as a process for busy operations staff who have not been trained on analyzing air permits. In their situation, the plant manager dutifully logged their air readings in the spreadsheet. However, there was no alert or changing cell color or warning that they exceeded their limit. They went back to their job. Two years later, the regulatory agency caught the violation and fined them a bunch of money. In this case, if they’re going to rely on a spreadsheet, they need to train their managers on how to interpret air permits. Really?!? or spend more $$$ on hiring environmental managers to review spreadsheets every day. 🤔 Spreadsheets are not for processes. Once again, the failure to have a system let this plant manager, operations leader, and the entire company down. To make it worse, they have an EHS software that says they “do air emissions monitoring.” It wasn’t set up because 1. it either cannot solve this problem, 2. it’s all on the company to do the configuration of their software, or 3. implementation partner was too slow in setting it up. At the end of the day, so many things failed here. 👀 It’s why our goal is to put a system in place for environmental compliance processes AND alerts for limits. ✅ Our solutions engineering team also partners directly with our customers to implement our software. It creates alignment of incentives, supplements internal staff to reduce the workload of system change, and ensures we deploy the system they just bought.🚀
