✨Happy Administrative Professionals Day! ✨ Administrative professionals are a special kind of people who just get it. They’re always armed with a great deal of intuition and a hardworking attitude that they use to get things done. Unfortunately, executive assistants and administrative professionals are often like the stage crew behind a fabulous play. You focus so intently on the key players that you forget there are people behind the scenes who keep everything running smoothly. In my X years of experience as an executive assistant, I’ve seen how the value of the role is often overlooked or underappreciated. If you’re lucky enough to have an administrative professional (who probably organizes your every working moment), be intentional about expressing your appreciation today. Let your EA know how they make your life easier and what a difference they make in the day to day operations of your company. Most importantly, keep showing your appreciation throughout the year by ensuring that your EA feels like they’re part of the team. I’ll leave you with this- the right person in the wrong environment will languish. If you don’t value your EA the way they deserve, they’ll find a role with someone else where they do feel valued. As someone who has always admired the value administrative assistants bring to a team, I know firsthand how vital their role is. They are the ones who prevent problems with care and precision, regardless of the industry they work within. Behind the scenes, they anticipate and solve the issues that would become bigger problems without their intervention. It's why I'm so excited about the prospect of becoming an administrative assistant myself. However, there are still many misconceptions about what administrative assistants do. For instance, they are often confused with executive assistants, even though the latter work directly with executives. I'm interested in learning more about other common misconceptions and the responsibilities that administrative assistants perform. I would love to hear other misconceptions below, especially from current or former administrative assistants, and gain a better understanding.
