The Paris 2024 Olympics are anticipated to be a landmark event, attracting 16 million visitors to France. With ticket prices ranging from €24 to €990, the games offer a wide range of options for attendees. Out of the 206 National Olympic Committees (NOCs), nationals of 99 will need to obtain a visa to enter France. In preparation, France will issue around 70,000 digital visas for athletes, journalists, and delegations, streamlining the entry process for participants and media personnel. Over the course of the 17-day event, visitors are expected to spend more than €8.32 billion, significantly boosting the local economy. This influx of visitors and spending underscores the Olympics' role in fostering international collaboration, cultural exchange, and economic growth. The Paris 2024 Olympics not only celebrate athletic excellence but also highlight the importance of global unity and the far-reaching benefits of hosting such a prestigious event. #Paris2024 #OlympicGames #GlobalEvent #Tourism #EconomicImpact #parisolympics #makinghistory #indianathletes #olympics2024 #olympics

The Olympics 2024 was a huge success for France, earning admiration from across the globe. For the embattled Macron, it was a relief to see how the event inspired a national sense of unity and pride. When the feelgood factor evaporates, he will have to tackle the myriad of crises France is mired in. Thanks to revenues – spending had gone up 25% on average – generated from a greater number of visitors for the hospitality industry, the event has given the French economy a temporary, but much-needed boost to bolster its tepid growth, according to tourism minister. The GDP is expected to grow at least 0.35% in the third quarter, while debt level remains high. With no financial leeway in its budget, France had to reuse existing infrastructures or set up temporary venues whenever possible, with sports facilities being renovated or modernised. This modus operandi ensured a stronger focus on France's most beautiful monuments, transforming them into backdrops to stage the games.

Watching sports is a favourite pastime of mine, which is why I'm eagerly anticipating this Friday and the official opening of the Paris Olympics 2024. The image captures a circle at the tip of the plane wing - the newly constructed main stadium for the London Olympics in 2012. Despite some initial complaints from locals, the 2012 event turned out to be a memorable and enjoyable experience for many. Large sporting events like these can unfortunately be subject to sports washing by corporate sponsors and can have high expenses that price out many individuals from attending. This raises questions about the future of such events and the possibility of implementing changes. Exploring options like hosting across multiple cities/countries with existing infrastructure or organizing a series of smaller events could potentially reduce costs, enhance local participation and sustainability. The photo, taken in 2016 during a flight into London City airport, captures a moment from the past when air travel was a more common part of my routine. #Sports #Olympics #EventPlanning #CommunityEngagement #Infrastructure #SportsIndustry #Paris2024 #London2012 #LocalParticipation

Compelling perspective on how the Paris 2024 Olympics embody the power of cultural transformation. France's journey from a 1960s sporting crisis to becoming a global sports powerhouse teaches us invaluable lessons about embedding lasting change. Just as France reshaped its national identity through sport, businesses can draw inspiration from this evolution. It reminds us that meaningful cultural change requires vision, persistence, and a commitment to long-term goals. For leaders and managers, embracing these principles can drive profound and enduring transformation within organizations, proving that resilience and strategic focus are key to achieving lasting impact.
2024 Olympics – lessons on culture 🇫🇷 With the opening ceremony of this summer’s Olympic Games just hours away, the sense of anticipation in the French capital is palpable. But as Lindsay Sarah Krasnoff, PhD points out, getting the French public to buy into the excitement around the international multi-sport event wasn’t a fait accompli. “French culture is not typically synonymous with sports”. France has worked hard over decades to build a sporting culture into the national fabric. So what can the business world learn from the French experience? Following yesterday’s closing ceremony of the Summer Olympics in Paris, WorldACD looked at some data for the top 10 countries in terms of medals (and air cargo). USA won most medals (126), followed by China (91). However, ranking countries by medal counts favours countries with large populations. When adjusted for population size, the ranking changes significantly, as shown in the chart below, with Australia and the Netherlands coming out on top. In fact, Grenada with two bronze medals and a population of 56,000 is 1st in the medals-per-capita ranking. Interestingly, when we bring air cargo in the mix, we see that 8 of the 10 largest countries in terms of air cargo are among the top 10 countries with Olympic medals: only Hong Kong and India are missing (ranking 3rd and 4th in air cargo), but with France and Australia included (ranking 16th and 17th in air cargo).

🎉 The Olympics are going to leave some very memorable moments for many people, especially those who had the opportunity to experience it in person. Sport unites society in a very unique way, and I’m happy we could contribute to making many people a part of such an incredible celebration by providing affordable and reliable travel options with Flix. Here are a few facts from our passengers on the Paris 2024 Olympics: 📍 Our top international routes were Brussels-Paris and London-Paris, while on domestic lines it was Lille-Paris and Le Havre-Paris. 🌍 While most people traveled within France to the event, the next biggest travel groups came from Belgium, followed by Germany. 🚍 In true Flix style, we’ve pulled off some incredible long-distance trips, including a journey from Sebes, Romania to Paris – 2063 km with just one connection. 🏀Lille saw an increased demand too for tickets, with the basketball and handball games bringing many travelers to the city and the games. 🚄Finally, with the sabotage attacks on the SNCF infrastructure just hours before the opening ceremony, Flix and other businesses saw a sudden increase in interest. We had to fill the gap, and this is only possible because of the open and fair competition in a country like France. If not, there might not have been alternatives, and these heinous actions could have much bigger consequences. It once again highlights how important it is that we have multiple options, so the passengers always come out on top, whether it is due to these attacks that I highly condemn, strikes, or other unforeseen events. Competition helps us create a more resilient system, and the Paris games were a strong example of exactly that. #Olympics2024 #Paris2024

The global discussion around the organization of the Paris Olympics is intense. Issues such as the mockery of biblical themes, athletes falling ill after contact with the Seine's water, and many other concerns are currently at the forefront. In my opinion, it is crucial to distinguish the incompetence of the Olympic Committee in France and all approving parties from the value of the entire French nation. Events are the responsibility of a group of people, not an entire nation. A handful of decision-makers do not represent the whole. French citizens, you continue to be as remarkable as ever. Your contributions to the world, from Céline Dion to music, fashion, beauty, and more, remain invaluable. The individuals responsible for the organizational issues of the Paris Olympics must be held accountable and replaced. Hopefully, this will happen soon. #Paris2024 #France #Olympics2024

An independent study expected #Paris to generate between 6.7 and 11.1 billion Euros in net economic benefits for hosting the #Olympics. Other than that, 8.9 billion euros as net economic impact. Tourism was expected to contribute 30% towards this economic impact, construction activities 28% and organising the games itself -- 42%. The 15 day-long event was expected to witness anything between 2.3 and 3.1 million unique visitors with game tickets. Some 64% of them French, as per the study. While it all looks amazing at the top, a brief look at the history of how Olympics have panned out financially in the past; have an altogether different story to tell. The ICOMOS ICTC worked recently with UN Tourism to support their development of "ISO Standard 21902 - Accessible tourism for all: recommendations for key players in the cultural tourism ecosystem." This can include large cities like Paris and accessing its historic sites, monuments and events. For the upcoming Summer Olympics, that also has a significant and standalone paralympic component, which have been part of the Games since 1960, this is as much a challenge for the competitions as well as the hosting venues and city. France’s first law mandating accessibility in public spaces dates back to 1975, but effective enforcement has not been easy. The Olympics and Paralympics have brought new urgency to the issue. https://lnkd.in/e9zzz2vv #paris #olympics #accessibility #investment #challenges Igor Stefanovic Miguel Carrasco Hernández Jim Kyte Isabelle QUEMENER Pierre-François TOULZE Maria Gravari-Barbas Adriana Julia Pankaj Manchanda Ivan Anthony Henares, PhD Wayne Smith Sonya Jakubec
