City of Greenville, South Carolina’s Post

🇺🇦 Marking the 33rd anniversary of Ukraine's Independence in #GreenvilleSC. Mayor Knox White issued a proclamation surrounded by members of our Ukrainian community. The proclamation declares that "Ukraine has shown resilience, determination and a steadfast commitment to freedom and democracy" and went on to say "the Ukrainian community in Greenville serves as a vibrant part of our population, enriching our state with their traditions, language, music, dance and culinary heritage." Greenville is grateful to be a safe home to a robust Ukrainian community. When Ukraine was first invaded we were asked to raise a flag. Ukrainian flags were in high demand at the time and could not be quickly purchased. Greenville residents sewed us a flag, that while worn and a bit faded, still flies proudly outside City Hall today.
