“Solo hay uno.” There is only one. That is what engineer and architect, Miguel Rosales, tells other cities when they ask for a replica of the Liberty Bridge. Meet the mastermind behind Greenville's iconic bridge. "This bridge has to be special and unique to Greenville, SC," Rosales said when he visited Falls Park during its 20th anniversary celebration. Though #HispanicHeritageMonth has come to an end, we celebrate diversity and honor traditions in #GreenvilleSC all year long!

SWOOSH. #GreenvilleSC scores another big win for sports fans and economic development. The Southeastern Conference will hold its Women's Basketball Tournament at Bon Secours Wellness Arena through 2028. Coach Dawn Staley and the South Carolina Lady Gamecocks won the last four times the tournament was hosted in Greenville. “The city’s hospitality and organization combined with the quality of the arena make Greenville an ideal location to provide a memorable experience," said SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey in an announcement extending the contract. The Well hosts the 2025 tournament March 5-9. “The tournament’s impact on our region is tremendous, bringing in thousands of visitors and fostering a vibrant atmosphere for local businesses,” said General Manager Beth Paul.

Celebrating 50 years of service! 👏🏽 For five decades, the Greenville Transit Authority (GTA) has provided citizens a ride to work, school, the grocery store, medical appointments and more. "Not everybody in our community owns a vehicle. Some families share a car," says Amanda Warren, GTA Board Chair, "So public transit is essential to get them where they need to go.” Thanks to Greenville Connects for sponsoring Fare Free Day in celebration of our anniversary.

🐾 All PAWS on deck to help sheltered animals from Western North Carolina. The Greenville Police Department is partnering with Bon Secours Wellness Arena TOMORROW to collect donations for the Greenville Humane Society and Greenville County Animal Care. #GreenvilleSC received 18 pets from the Asheville Humane Society. All have been adopted, but more could be on the way. 🚙 Drive through the BSWA box office between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. to drop off pet food, paper towels and other needed items. (We included a few "super" cute pics of current Greenville Humane Society animals up for adoption just in case you're looking)

🌳❓Your DEBRIS questions ANSWERED. From comments to DM's to emails to phone calls, we're getting a lot of questions about storm debris, pickup times, mulching, and more. This afternoon, our Public Works Director gave City Council an update. In two weeks, contractors hauled 140,000 cubic yards of storm debris. 1. What are you going to do with all the tree debris? All of the debris is taken to a centralized location and ground into a single shredded economy mulch. Some of it will be used in our parks. If we can provide a portion for citizen use, we will make an announcement! 2. Is there a way to find out when debris collection trucks will be in my neighborhood? The debris contractor has multiple trucks spread throughout the city that are making multiple passes. Haulers are working 7 days per week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. There is no schedule for pickup. If they were not able to get all of your debris on the first trip, please know that they will be returning for additional pickups. We will make an announcement when they begin their final pass for collection. 3. Are there size limits to what can be picked up? No, the contractor’s equipment can handle large debris, including large logs and stumps. However, very large pieces may be left behind for a later pickup if specific equipment is needed. As long as your debris is at the curb, we will pick it up. Want to see the rest of PW Director Dave Derrick's presentation? https://lnkd.in/eJytsF3q
