(TPI), an innovative IT and business services company that is focused on creating 10,000 jobs for individuals with diverse abilities over the next decade. Thanks to TPI's neurodiversity employment model, they're unlocking the unique talents and abilities of a population who typically experience an 80% unemployment rate.   One of TPI’s recent projects has been to engage the talents of TPI employees to perform final inspections for our DuPont™ Kalrez® O-rings, providing dimensional and visual conformity inspections against defined specifications. Leaders of aftermarket parts businesses speaking at Heavy-Duty Aftermarket Dialogue are predicting more of the same for the year ahead, but are hopeful that increased stability seen in the back end of 2023 is a sign of things to come.

While #tradeassociations (aka a « business leagues ») are charged with advocating for their respective industries, they’re fundamentally different from the members they represent. How so? Well, the Internal Revenue Service states that « a business league’s activities must be devoted to improving business conditions of one or more lines of business as distinguished from performing particular services for individual persons. » https://lnkd.in/eYtmj7b As such, most associations (like the EIFS Industry Members Association (EIMA) ) focus on industry-wide programs and services, such as #advocacy, #education #industrystandards, #industrystatistics and more. Since our revenues come from voluntary contributions, we also promote transparency by making sure that things like our Federal tax returns (Form 990) are approved by our board before they are submitted to the IRS and open for public inspection. Additionally, tax-exempt « business leagues » represent a more sizable part of the US economy than many people may realize. Here are a couple of data points from the U.S. Census Bureau. * Business associations (NAICS 813910) are primarily engaged in promoting the business interests of their members. In 2017, they collected over $27B in dues and revenues and employed over 115,000 people. * Professional organizations (NAICS 813920) are primarily engaged in promoting the professional interests of their members and the profession as a whole. In 2017, they collected over $22B in dues and revenues and employed over 100,000 people. Because trade association best practices and innovations frequently apply to organizations that represent all types of industries, I find it very useful and educational to interact with leaders of other trade groups. Consequently, I was very pleased to attend the Potomac Core - Association Consulting ‘s Strategic Guidance Lab. This group of strategic-minded association CEOs is the brainchild of Daniel A. Varroney, the head of Potomac Core and the partner that helped EIMA develop and launch its current strategic plan and governance structure. https://lnkd.in/eZQSBEFd Today’s presentation by the Alliance For Automotive Innovation was excellent, and it was interesting to hear how other trade associations address their issues surrounding membership value, organizational impact and strategic vision. Thanks to Dan Varroney for inviting me, and I’m glad I attended the meeting. I learned some new things and met many interesting and very capable industry leaders. It was well worth it!
