For the first time, we expanded our reach globally, engaging with 250 benefits leaders and 3,400 employees across the US, UK, Brazil, Canada, Germany, India, and Japan to gain a better understanding of the real mental health and well-being challenges faced by organizations, business leaders, and workers. The study finds that COVID-19's delayed trauma response is taking a growing toll on workers' mental health worldwide, with the majority of employees across the surveyed countries experiencing at least one mental health issue in 2023. Very interesting to see these trends. We need to push for increased access to intensive approaches that match clients’ needs. The right approach can make all the difference.

This is an important report with shocking findings from a survey of 3,400 employees. We need to do more and do better for mental health: ● 55 percent of U.S. employees reported they supported a child in their care under 18 who struggled with their mental health in 2023, more than double the percentage of workers who said the same the year prior ● One in four U.S. workers said their mental health declined in 2023 ● 65 percent of U.S. employees reported that their mental health impacted their ability to do their jobs in 2023, a 35 percent increase from 2020 ● 7 percent of U.S. employees reported that mental health stressors prevented them from working on one or more occasions this year, a 75 percent increase from 2022 ● 46 percent of U.S. employees reported their mental health challenges made them less focused at work, and 36 percent said they were less productive ● 35 percent of UK employees and 34 percent of employees in Canada reported their mental health declined in 2023, the steepest decline amongst the seven countries surveyed

The results of our 2024 State of Workforce Mental Health report revealed that most workers, regardless of their location or industry, are dealing with mental health issues that affect them on the job and need more robust support from their employers. Organizations must confront these issues head-on, and shift their focus from individual employee mental health to a holistic approach of ensuring access to effective care and building healthy companies and cultures. https://lnkd.in/efkMD-cD

One area that stood out to me: One in four U.S. workers said their mental health declined in 2023 Not great! Time for companies to start re-thinking the benefits they offer their employees and how easily they allow those benefits to be utilized.

In our world, mental health incidents are on the rise, and it's becoming clear that the way we respond needs to change. The Right Care Right Person (RCRP) model is leading the way, showing us the power of collaboration across organisations. 🚨 What's the Issue? Too often, individuals in a mental health crises are met first responders who, while well-intentioned, may not have the specialized training or time to provide the care these individuals need. This can escalate situations and lead to increased operational time being used on non-policing activities. 👩⚕️ The RCRP Model   The RCRP model changes this by bringing together health services, emergency responders, and social care teams to ensure that the right professionals are there from the start. VICTOR Teams are made of frontline staff trained in mental health who can respond, offering the care and compassion that can make all the difference from dispatch to A&E admission. 🤝 Why Collaboration Matters  For organisations, this model is a game-changer. It shows us that when we break down silos and work together, we can create systems that truly serve people in need. No one organization can do it alone, but together, we can ensure that individuals in crisis get the right care, at the right time, from the right person. Take a cue from the RCRP model and look for ways to collaborate across our sectors.
