Having one of those days when all strategies feel like this? Reminds me of the #HarvardBusinessReview article on the 5 P's of ethical #DataManagement in the age of #AI : 1️⃣ Provenance Good intentions are NOT enough to make data collection ethical. Where & how were the data collected? Are users aware, and do they consent? 2️⃣ Purpose Are data that were originally collected for one purpose, being inappropriately repurposed? Is the info still bound by the original parameters of collection? 3️⃣ Protection Housing data with "expert" 3rd parties doesn't always translate to better security, and encryption doesn't always guarantee anonymization. Who has access? When will data be anonymized, and when will it need to be destroyed? 4️⃣ Privacy Researchers have been able to identify individuals using nothing but gender, birth dates, & zip codes. What techniques are being used to ensure privacy? Are geolocation services being used to match IP address with physical coordinates, that can lead to potential misuse? 5️⃣ Preparation Garbage in, garbage out. How are data being verified for accuracy, and what is being done about missing data, duplicate data, or outliers?
