What do the Labour and Conservative manifestos have to say about energy storage and electric buses?   The Conservatives commit to building new gas power stations and do not even mention energy storage. They do, however, promise to speed up grid connection timelines - a longstanding demand of the storage sector, alongside everyone else in the energy industry. Labour, meanwhile, say they will ‘ensure we have the long-term energy storage our country needs’, and they match the Conservative pledge on grid connections. While light on detail, this sends a positive signal to storage developers and investors. As for electric buses, neither party explicitly mentions bus decarbonisation. The key dividing line here is Labour’s commitment to bus franchising: reintroducing municipal ownership and control of routes. Transportation is responsible for around 30 percent of US greenhouse gas emissions. US sales of electric vehicles are growing quickly, but still lag behind those of many other nations, including Norway, Germany, and China. In a bold move to double down on America's future, the Biden administration allocation of $623 million in competitive grants will be awarded to bolster the US charging network with 7,500 new charge ports across the country, many of them in rural and low- and moderate-income areas. A first for Western Australia, the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Charging Network Plan is a blueprint for local governments to transition to electric vehicles. The Perth South West Metropolitan Alliance is a collective of six progressive local governments aiming to convert 100% of car and van fleets to zero emission vehicles by 2030. We conducted comprehensive research and policy testing to develop the Plan for the Alliance. The Plan outlines charging types, infrastructure, grid impacts and policies to support the rollout of public and private EV chargers. The Plan is proof of what can be achieved through collaboration and a shared desire to achieve net-zero targets, in a way that provides maximum benefits to all members of the community. “The future of mobility should be shared and connected. National Grid is leading the clean energy transition and never has that been more evident than today. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is providing funding for a two-year study to develop a roadmap for truck charging in New England and parts of the mid-Atlantic. The Northeast Freight Corridors Charging Plan will focus on highways with heavy trucking traffic, including I-95 and I-90, and areas with commercial activity, like the Port of New York and New Jersey.
