📢 Empowering LGBTQIA+ Voices Against Hate 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ Did you know that only 1 in 8 hate crimes against LGBTQ+ individuals in the UK are reported? It's time to change that, and the Zoteria app is here to help. I'm proud (yup, that is me and my dear friend Ajay Pabial 🏳️🌈 on set back in March) to support Stonewall UK's latest initiative, Zoteria. This discreet and powerful app is making a real difference in combating hate crimes against the LGBTQ+ community 🏳️🌈 🏳️⚧️ Why Zoteria matters: • 𝗔𝗻𝗼𝗻𝘆𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘆 & 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆: Zoteria prioritizes user privacy, making it a safe space to report incidents without fear of being outed. • 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮-𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲: Each report contributes to valuable data that helps advocate for policy changes and better support services. • 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Zoteria empowers individuals to take action and be part of the solution in combating hate crimes. Here are some thoughtful ways to celebrate Pride with your colleagues and friends: 🌈 Learn and Grow: Attend talks or workshops that focus on LGBTQ+ history and issues. Knowledge is the ally’s best tool! 🌈 Connect Through Creativity: Organize a get-together to create Pride-themed art or crafts. It’s a fun way to express support and add a personal touch to the celebration. 🌈 Support Through Giving: Identify and donate to charities that work tirelessly for LGBTQ+ causes. Every little bit helps! 🌈 Join the Parade: There’s power in numbers! March in your local Pride parade to show solidarity and support for LGBTQ+ rights. 🌈 Advocate for Change: Use this month to start conversations about inclusivity in your workplace. Some thoughts I have about #PrideMonth this year and how organizations can support the LGBTQ+ members of key audiences.

🌈 **Reflecting on Rainbow Washing: A Call for Authenticity in Corporate Diversity Efforts** As Pride Month approaches, we see a surge of corporations donning rainbow colors. While this show of support can be heartening, it's crucial to distinguish between genuine allyship and "rainbow washing." Rainbow washing happens when companies use rainbow motifs or LGBTQ+ support to appear inclusive without taking concrete actions to support these communities. It can undermine the genuine struggles for equality and inclusion faced by LGBTQ+ individuals. Here are a few thoughts on how businesses can avoid rainbow washing and practice authentic support: 1. **Long-term Commitment:** Diversity and inclusion should be a year-round endeavor, not just a once-a-year campaign. 2. **Policies and Practices:** Implement and maintain inclusive policies that protect and benefit LGBTQ+ employees. 3. **Community Engagement:** Support local LGBTQ+ initiatives and charities not just financially but through active participation and advocacy. Let’s encourage and hold accountable those around us to do more than just wear the rainbow. We’re thrilled to share some exciting updates from our LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group (ERG) as we celebrate Pride Month! Over the past few months, we’ve engaged in meaningful discussions and have several exciting initiatives in the pipeline. Here are some highlights of what we’ve been working on: 🌈 Upcoming Event: Next week, we’re hosting a special event to celebrate Pride Month and allyship in a relaxed and inclusive environment. Stay tuned on LinkedIn for a recap of our celebration! 📋 Policy Improvements: We’re actively discussing ways to enhance Easyfairs’ policies and best practices to better support LGBTQ+ members in the workplace and during hiring processes. 📅 Pride 365 Campaign: Pride isn’t just for June! We’re launching a year-round Pride 365 campaign, focusing on fundraising and supporting charities that uplift our community. 🤝 Allyship Training: We’re researching and developing allyship training to ensure all Easyfairs employees know how to be supportive allies to the queer community. A 2019 article in the Harvard Business Review made the case that LGBTQ+ inclusion is good for the economy. As more businesses make this connection, they are stepping forward to make an economic case for non-discrimination protections and against discriminatory laws. Fast forward to Andrea Frank, a Door County resident and recent Canary Fund grant recipient who helped to develop a project in helping businesses show their support for and welcoming the LGBTQ+ community. The Pride Flag Initiative (from Open Door Pride) is designed to offer free pride flags to local businesses or organizations to fly outside of their business to show customers they are a supportive, welcoming, and inclusive place. The goal of our initiative is to have all businesses flying the flag and support the LGBTQIA+ community. June is Pride Month, a time to celebrate diversity, and inclusivity, as well as highlight the ongoing fight for equal rights and opportunities for the LGBTQ+ community. We are proud to stand with and support the incredible work of Mermaids, a charity close to our hearts.   Mermaids is dedicated to supporting transgender, non-binary, and gender-diverse children, young people, and their families. We believe that embracing and empowering all members of the trans community is crucial for any organisation, regardless of the industry. This is why we are honoured to fund Mermaids’ local group activities, which create a safe space to celebrate and uplift the community. Jo and the Thornicroft family have felt the benefit of the amazing work of this charity first-hand. The care they have provided, and their unwavering support have been a huge help and immeasurable comfort in such a turbulent and troubled time. We strive to support them, as they have us, in the hope they will be able to continue their important work and care for other families just like ours.
