#indiasportsindustry - Angelo Mathew Time out "Unlocking the 'Sports Rules and Spirit Matrix' - It's complicated In the vibrant world of sports, there exists a fascinating interplay of four distinct elements that define the ethos of any game: a) Rules of the Game: These are the concrete guidelines and regulations that outline how a sport is played. They're the boundaries that ensure fair competition, defining what's allowed and what isn't. b) Spirit of the Rules of the Game: This is where things get interesting. It's not just about following the rules; it's about understanding the intent behind them. It's recognizing that rules are there to ensure fairness and integrity, and sometimes, bending them to preserve the spirit of the game. c) Spirit of the Game: Now, we dive deeper. This is the soul of sportsmanship. It transcends the rulebook and embodies qualities like respect, integrity, and fairness. It's the essence of competition, where opponents can be rivals on the field but friends off it. d) Rules of Spirit: Here, the spirit becomes codified. These are unwritten rules, often understood and respected by players, officials, and fans. It's the unspoken agreement to uphold the values of sports, even when the official rulebook doesn't explicitly dictate it. In sports, the perfect balance between these four elements creates a magical synergy. It's where rules ensure a level playing field, the spirit of the rules keeps integrity intact, the spirit of the game fosters respect and camaraderie, and the rules of spirit guide us in being good sports, even beyond the field. #Sportsmanship #SpiritOfTheGame"

This is so perfectly said by Mark Zucco (via Kieren Perkins OAM) 🙌 Having been involved with two sports during the implementation process of two very different One Management Models (AusCycling and AusTriathlon) I have seen first hand how transformative working as an unitary organisation can be for sport. If anyone in my network wants to understand more about the benefits of One Management/Unitary sport models-reach out! I’m more than happy to nerd out on sport governance and discuss the lessons I’ve learned 🤓 It’s an exciting time to be in sport as the sector takes huge strides in many ways! #sports #governance #onemanagement #sportreform #organisationaltransformation #operations #australia

Kieren Perkins OAM talking about federated sports models at SportNXT conference today: “The fundamental governance principles that underpin so many of our sports in the federated model of sport is guaranteeing our future destruction.“ “…the federated model spends all its time fighting for power, authority and recognition, we will miss what happens to us. Which will be oblivion.” I couldn’t agree more….this is the biggest issue in Australian sport. Far too much time, energy, resources and money is wasted on internal politics losing sight of what matters most. Federated sports models are outdated and no longer fit for purpose. It’s time for sports to rethink what the optimal governance model looks like in a rapidly changing and ultra competitive Australian sport and entertainment landscape. #sportbusiness #sportbiz

Helping reduce & protect sports officials against violence and abuse through the use of body worn video technology
🚀 Exciting Update from the Grassroots Football World! 🚀 The Football Association's trial of body-worn cameras for grassroots referees in England has shown promising results, marking a significant step towards enhancing the safety and confidence of referees during matches. Key Highlights after the first year: - Referees report feeling more "confident" and "safer" with the introduction of body-worn cameras. - Early feedback suggests the cameras act as a deterrent, with notable reductions in negative incidents and altercations. - Positive responses from referees, players, and coaches alike indicate a shift towards a more respectful and enjoyable sporting environment. The FA's innovative approach underscores the importance of leveraging technology to foster a safer and more respectful atmosphere in grassroots football. As the trial progresses, it holds the promise of extending this technology across more leagues, setting a new standard for sportsmanship and safety. A huge shoutout to everyone involved in making the trial a success. It's initiatives like these that drive positive change and enhance the beautiful game for everyone involved! #GrassrootsFootball #InnovationInSport #RefereeSafety

Founder M1 Sports. Ex-Meta, Amazon, Reddit / Talks about The Business of Sports & Technology in Sports
An Olympic-style competition where athletes can take performance enhancing drugs? 🤯 Welcome to The Enhanced Games. A competition and business model that’s just been backed by Peter Thiel. The proposal? Breaking world records and designing a competition for the era of social media and shortening attention spans. Founder Aron D’Souza claims The Enhanced Games will be the first sporting event in the world without drug testing. And since 44% of athletes have admitted to using banned performance-enhancing substances The Enhanced game is an offering to do this all out in the open. Athletes will be paid a base rate for competing, with bonuses for winning events and breaking records. This disrupts the traditional payment model. There are obvious concerns from sporting committees around the ethics of such an event. Namely the Olympics committee themselves. What do you think? Is this a reinvention of a dated Sports format or a step too far? #sportsnews #olympics #investing

We know that predicting athlete performance on teams includes a number of factors. scoutSMART's patent takes into account the team, not just the player. That is, the success of a QB is dependent on the OL and targets available. #sportstech #patent

🚨 Controversial Partnership Alert 🚨 In the wake of Borussia Dortmund’s recent loss to Madrid in the Champions League final, a new, equally challenging discussion emerges around the club's latest partnership. Dortmund’s decision to enter a three-year sponsorship agreement with weapons manufacturer Rheinmetall has left the fanbase and broader community both shocked and disappointed. As a club that has long stood for fans, community, and unity, Dortmund's choice to partner with a company involved in the arms industry seems to contradict their stated values of opposing "racism, antisemitism, homophobia, sexism, violence, and discrimination." 🖤💛 🔴 Why is this significant? Rheinmetall’s logo will now be prominent on BVB’s merchandise, advertising boards, and during press conferences. It is a first-of-its-kind deal for a Bundesliga club, and it raises serious concerns about the message being sent. We have seen the slippery slope of controversial sponsorships in sports, from exploitative betting brands to dubious financial schemes. But is this a step too far? Should professional sports clubs adhere to stricter ethical standards for sponsorships❓ #brands #sponsorship #marketing #sponsor #pr #sports #soccer #football #footballnews #dortmund
