Change Healthcare, which handles about half of all medical claims in the US, totaling $1.5 trillion per year, was a target of a serious cyber attack. Hackers stole patient data and encrypted files and have held them for ransom since February 21st. Federal officials call it the “most significant attack on the healthcare system in U.S. history” as the shutdown continues to delay discharges and prescriptions in hospitals nationwide. One healthcare CIO stated, “The size of the attack doesn’t matter. What matters is the impact”. While little is known about the specifics, it is believed that the attack may have focused on ransomware targeting high-level access users. The attack’s impact may expand as the hackers now have access to data from various partners. In IAM, the best offense is a good defense. With cybersecurity, a fully mature multi-layered identity strategy is one of the key ways to prepare for high-impact attacks and prevent network-wide outages. A great article and insight from a great partner. Fraud and Ransomware are on the rise as exploits in technology limitations are becoming easier and easier. Fraud associated with Deep-Fakes is up almost 800%! For years we’ve relied on knowledge based questions, device tokens, email, and SMS to protect users from account take over through password reset…it’s simply not enough anymore. Enter realtime facial biometrics. I’m excited to be part of this new frontier wirh authID. #authid #identitysecurity #fraud #ai #ransomware #deepfake
