Kudos to this incredible young man. Having become indigent for several years when my ex-husbands wealthy family paid all his legal fees in repeatedly suing and pounding me into poverty, I can honestly speak from experience as a mother of 3 children who suffered in poverty during those years it is absolutely OUTRAGEUS that any child in America is NOT served lunch. I am extremely lucky I "made it," but my children and I have NEVER forgotten those days. Every time I see a story like this i just shake. There should be absolutely no social order associated with school lunches anywhere in this country. ALL school lunches in America should be offered at NO CHARGE as part of our school curriculum. I would GLADLY support tax increases to cover the costs of a nationally required program to feed, at no charge, all children in our schools for lunch. And in a balanced program, children can still be make "choices"--green beans or peas, chicken, eat or fish--they choose-- white milk, chocolate milk, what kind of juice, Jello , pudding or graham crackers as a light desert, etc etc etc--so the child fees like he can have some individuality while the school maintains variety would be great. None of us cannot expect a hungry, impoverished child to learn anything while operating on an empty stomach--or while being ridiculed because the child has to present a voucher or the as*hole "cashier" loudly turns the child away for an overdrawn account or lack of funds. In this day and age the fact this has still not been addressed is beyond my comprehension:
Cayden, an 8-year-old, took action when his friend was denied a hot meal at school due to school lunch debt. Cayden, with the support of his mom, initiated a fundraiser called "No Child Goes Hungry" to assist students who were facing meal challenges. Through his efforts, Cayden successfully raised over $40,000, showcasing his inspiring generosity and compassion.

It's officially "back to school" season! 📚✏️ The Dana Carmel Group is kicking off the new school year by donating $20,000 to the Menlo Park City School District and Menlo Atherton High School to support my children’s schools and our local community. I am a long-time, active Foundation member, and I know how much our school districts rely on Foundation support to provide quality education. Funds raised provide additional teachers, specialists, programs, and tools that make our schools extraordinary places for learning. That’s why we will donate $1,500 to your local school Foundation when you buy or sell a home with The Dana Carmel Group. This benefits both home values and school districts. A report by the National Bureau of Economic Research titled, “Using Market Valuation to Assess Public School Spending,” found that for every dollar spent on public schools in a community, home values increased by about $20. This increase directly translates to higher resale values. Send us a message to learn more! 📲 Dana Carmel Group | DRE 02076519

Did you know that, on average, parents spent $750 to send one kid to summer camp? And just imagine how much that cost multiples for each child a family has. This expense can become a financial burden that impacts funds needed to prepare those same students for the academic school year. At SOME, we're aware of this burden, which is why we're raising money to support families living in our affordable housing. Are you willing to help? The school year starts next week for public schools in the district, why not give today: https://bit.ly/3Mg54hn

By supporting Back 2 School America, you're helping us help them. You and your employer can make a direct impact by sponsoring an upcoming Build-A-Kit, donating, directing, and volunteering. 😍 "Families with children in elementary through high school plan to spend an average of $874.68 on clothing, shoes, school supplies, and electronics. Total back-to-school spending is expected to reach $38.8 billion, also the second-highest figure on record, after last year’s high of $41.5 billion." 😧 https://lnkd.in/dUwga6eD

For most of us, it's probably not normal to spend our own money just to do our job. For teachers, unfortunately it is. Teachers spend an average of $860 out of pocket on school supplies each year so their students won’t go without. At AdoptAClassroom.org, we help teachers get the funding they need to equip students with essential learning tools and materials, without having to dig into their own pockets. If you’re interested in learning more about what we do or how you can help, visit us at https://lnkd.in/gTWVNK9c BONUS: This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. If you’d like to show your support for teachers with a donation, donations to AdoptAClassroom.org will be DOUBLED all week*, so your dollar will make an even bigger impact. For the month of July, our Who I Am Foundation volunteers in #Albuquerque are hosting our 11th Annual Back-to-School Supply Drive to help children in need begin the school year with all of the tools they need for academic success. With so many uncertainties about how children will return to school and what the classroom will look like, they need your help more than ever. Families with children in K-12 spent a projected $519 per child on back-to-school needs last year. For families in low-income neighborhoods, the costs are simply not realistic. Donating new school supplies to children in disadvantaged communities will make an impact on their ability to begin the school year school-ready. Items we are collecting: -Pencils -Pens -Composition Books -Combination Locks -Scientific Calculators -5-Subject Notebooks -Tissues -Hand Sanitizer -Wet Wipes -Trapper Keepers -Colored Pencils -Markers -Protractors -Paint Sets -Glue Bottles -Notebook Paper -Highlighters -Scissors -Sharpeners -Pocket Folders To donate, simply comment below and we'll have a volunteer coordinate a donation pick up!! #TeamWhoIAm_Albuquerque
