The International Energy Agency (IEA) released its annual report today, in which the head of the organisation made the damning claim that countries that water down climate policies risks worsening the climate crisis, as well as damaging their own economies. The report itself calls on governments around the world not to stall progress by weakening climate measures, warning that the effects we’ve been increasingly seeing, such as wildfires and flooding, will affect us all. We know that the transition to clean energy has never been more urgent, and global leaders need to make, and stick to, ambitious commitments to tackle the climate crisis. That’s why in July, along with Friends of the Earth and Good Law Project we announced that we’re taking action against the UK government for the second time, over its high risk and inadequate climate plans. 11moWe have to keep pushing back. Perhaps all political donations and all lobbyist discussions should be made public at the time of the event so that people we know who is funding and why. Time for real transparency. And we are desperate for climate action now!
