Solar energy offers a unique solution to climate change by providing low-carbon energy while supporting farming and food security. At Honington Solar Farm in Suffolk, WiseEnergy, part of the NextEnergy Group, exemplifies this by using careful site design and management to support biodiversity and sheep farming alongside energy decarbonisation. Despite the extensive land required, the direct footprint of solar panels is typically around 3%, allowing unbuilt land to be used effectively. NextEnergy Group collaborates with landowners and planners to optimise solar energy sites from planning to decommissioning, contributing significantly to meeting government targets for increased solar capacity. Natural capital is humanity’s greatest asset – the stock of renewable and non-renewable natural resources that combine to yield a flow of benefits to people. At current consumption levels and without ground-breaking technologies, Candriam warn a large share of the resources essential to our lives today will eventually disappear altogether. #NaturalCapital #Renewables #PensionsforPurpose https://ow.ly/Ux8N50QVGBf

How do solar energy, green hydrogen, sheep and the GET.invest Finance Catalyst go together? 🤔 On a vast grass plain in #Barbados, HDF Energy and its partner Rubis Caribbean are pioneering a business that addresses two widespread issues on the island - the lack of access to clean, affordable #energy & the scarcity of agricultural land - by combining the advantages of solar energy generation, leading-edge #hydrogen storage and animal farming. However, as other innovative business models typically do, HDF Energy initially struggled to identify financiers and navigate the local regulatory terrain. The financial regulatory environment posed additional challenges regarding currency convertibility and repatriation. In this journey, the GET.invest #FinanceCatalyst provided instrumental support to the company in shifting the focus to the local sphere and approaching suitable financiers and equity investors, which resulted in a financial close. In a recent letter to the editor, one of Chaberton's landowner partners highlighted how our Project Snow—a community solar farm being developed in Worcester County, Maryland—will bring significant benefits to the community. These include: ☀️ Preserving land for future generations ☀️ Supplementing the ongoing need for sustainable energy ☀️ Creating local jobs and generating local tax revenue "𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘢𝘳 𝘧𝘢𝘳𝘮 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘸𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘺; 𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺’𝘴 𝘧𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦," 𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘚𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯𝘦𝘳, 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘓. 𝘞𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘐𝘐𝘐. Additionally, at least 40% of the benefits from the project will directly support neighbors at low- to moderate-income levels, ensuring that the positive impact reaches those who need it most and helping to make the clean energy transition equitable. 🌞 Harnessing Renewable Energy on Farms: A Sustainable Future Awaits! 🌾 The integration of renewable energy into agricultural practices represents a significant step toward a sustainable future. As the CEO of the Irish Solar Energy Association (ISEA), I'm excited to discuss this topic at the upcoming Energy and Farm Diversification Show, where I'll be presenting and joining a panel discussion on 'Harnessing Renewable Energy on Farms.'🚜🌱 Key Points: Negligible Impact: Only 0.2% of farmland needed for solar targets. Positive Opportunities: Onsite solar (rooftop) = reduced energy costs, and utility scale offers income diversification. Challenges: Land use review for multiple uses. Refinement of TAMS design. Strengthening network infrastructure. Agrisolar's Potential: We need a strong policy framework to support this innovative approach. Sustainable Future: No pathway to sustainability without agriculture. Join the discussion and discover how renewable energy can transform agriculture!🌍✨ https://lnkd.in/g5zA9vXE #RenewableEnergy #Agriculture #Sustainability #SolarEnergy #Agrisolar #FarmDiversification #ISEA

genCLEO members, including Tallahassee Regional Lead Samantha Kaddis, stand up to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and oppose the removal of Florida’s 100% renewable energy by 2050 goals. Why? Their decision to reject clean energy in favor of methane-based energy infrastructure not only reinforces our dependence on dirty fossil fuel, but breaks consumers banks. 🚫✋ #RenewableEnergy #ClimateAction #CleanEnergyNow
