Cancer Vaccine Shows Promise in Patients with Pancreatic, Colon Cancer A recent #study, co-led by #researchers at Memorial Sloan Kettering #Cancer Center, reveals encouraging early results for an off-the-shelf cancer vaccine, ELI-002 2P, designed for patients with pancreatic or colorectal cancer carrying specific KRAS mutations. The #vaccine, tested in a Phase I trial with 25 high-risk patients, was deemed safe and demonstrated a significant immune response, activating T cells targeting KRAS-mutated cancer cells. Notably, 84% of patients exhibited the desired immune response, leading to reduced circulating #tumor #DNA and, in some cases, complete absence. The findings suggest potential benefits in delaying cancer recurrence for responsive patients. #Ariti #health #healthcare #pharmaceuticals #people #peoplefirst #patientcare #medical #medicaldevice Read more : https://lnkd.in/dJRjPz3n

The first patient has received a personalized vaccine in a clinical trial as part of NHS England’s new Cancer Vaccine Launch Pad. The plan is that thousands of patients in England will gain access to personalized cancer vaccine trials through the new matchmaking service for patients and drug developers. The vaccines being evaluated in the colorectal cancer trial are based on mRNA—the same technology used for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. A patient’s tumor is analyzed to identify specific mutations and an experimental individualized cancer vaccine is created. Last week I predicted (LinkedIn translation 🙄 🤡: Reposted) how the pandemic had dramatically advanced mRNA vaccines in the fight against cancer... More good news coming out of #ASCO today related to vaccines against melanoma in combination with immunotherapies. Melanoma affects over 150,000 people globally each year. The vaccine, known as mRNA-4157 (V940), is tailored to each patient using DNA sequencing and artificial intelligence, aiming to prevent the cancer from returning. It has shown to halve the risk of death or disease recurrence in patients. After three years, those who received the vaccine had a 49% lower risk of these outcomes. Highlighting the potential of therapeutic cancer vaccines in combination with immunotherapies to greatly improve patient outcomes.

Cancer vaccines are taking off! Merck and Moderna’s personalised mRNA cancer vaccine, mRNA-4157/V940, combined with Keytruda, delivers a breakthrough in melanoma treatment. This combination therapy reduces the risk of recurrence or death by 44% compared to Keytruda alone, showcasing a significant advancement in cancer immunotherapy. The success of this trial highlights the potential of mRNA technology beyond COVID-19 vaccines and sets the stage for further expansion into other cancer types.
