【CLP Proudly Participates in the Inspiring Girls Hong Kong (IGHK) Career Fair】 As a company committed to promoting diversity and empowering the next generation, we were honoured to participate in the Career Fair organised by the Inspiring Girls Hong Kong (IGHK). The IGHK Career Fair aims to empower local secondary school girls with valuable insights, guidance, and opportunities by exposing them to diverse career opportunities in traditionally male-dominated industries, particularly in the fields of STEM, Finance, and Sustainability, hoping to help them discover and explore professions that may have seemed unattainable or unfamiliar. We have invited our female engineers to serve as a “Human Library”, sharing their daily work experiences and career journeys. This initiative aims to help the girls understand the possibilities and potential in the power industry, and to inspire them to pursue their dreams fearlessly. Participants were also welcomed to visit our booth, engage with our team, and learn more about CLP, our values, and the diverse career possibilities we have. We are grateful to have been part of this incredible initiative to show our dedication in supporting and empowering the next generation of female leaders. #CLP #Engineering #STEM #IGHK #CareerFair #EmpoweringTomorrow #LimitlessPossibilities #Opportunity #CareerDevelopment

Customer Success Director @ SeeMeCV | Dynamic Customer Success Leader Driving Exceptional Customer Experiences and Business Growth
At SeeMeCV, we recognise the critical role that both physical and virtual interactions play in driving customer success. These interactions are not just complementary—they are essential to creating a seamless and impactful experience. On Day 1 of the NTU Job-In Fair 2024, the NTU Career & Attachment Office launched their highly anticipated hybrid career fair. Our Customer Success team was onsite, not only to provide technical advice but also to guide employers in optimising their virtual presence. By doing so, we ensured their booths were not just visible, but truly engaging, driving more traffic and fostering deeper connections. This event exemplifies the power of a hybrid approach: offering students the invaluable opportunity for face-to-face engagement with employers while leveraging the efficiency of digital tools, such as the easy sharing of CVs through the virtual platform. This combination allows students to focus on building relationships and exploring opportunities, while employers benefit from streamlined processes and wider reach. The key takeaway is clear—when physical and virtual experiences are thoughtfully integrated, they amplify each other, leading to higher engagement and better outcomes for all parties involved. We’re excited to see the careers that will be launched and the success stories that will emerge from this event. What strategies do you think are most effective in balancing physical and virtual interactions to drive success?

University Recruiting SME | Independent consultant to employers hiring early talent | Provider of unbiased student recruiting research
❓ Has “Scan the QR Code” replaced “Go to the Website” as a career fair 'toxic practice'? Every year at this time, since it was first published in the August 2016 NACE Journal, I have posted a link [I'll drop in Comments] to this Op-Ed I wrote: “Career Fairs are NOT Dead”. Simply stated, although the technology has certainly evolved, the cause-and-effect of the career fair experience remains constant: if students get “blown off” [their term] by recruiters directing them to scan their resume to a QR code and/or to visit their website in lieu of a ‘genuine conversation’, that telegraphs disinterest in them – at best. 👉 Here’s how I concluded the 2016 Op-Ed: “What I find intriguing is that the more we introduce technology into the recruitment toolkit, the more value students place on the type of face-to-face interactions that occur at career fairs”. It’s eight years later, and I wouldn’t change a word. 👈

Higher Education Professional | Curriculum Development | Instructional Design | Learning Technologies
We were just discussing this yesterday at Princeton University. As a graduate student, I had the opportunity to help organize the first graduate student career meetup in 2015 and was specifically responsible for reaching out to humanities PhDs to invite them to promote their companies. What I found was that there is a lack of infrastructure for humanities recruiting — while many companies budgeted such career fairs and invested in recruiting science PhDs, the types of companies who might love to employ humanities PhDs didn’t necessarily have the resources to attend such events. There are amazing humanities PhDs who have pursued diverse and impressive careers! But these narratives aren’t always visible and the strong impression students get when they’re in the thick of things is that their skills aren’t valued on the job market. How can we change that narrative?
"The lack of employers at career fairs can affect humanities majors’ outlook on post-graduation plans, according to Gomez. She explained that there is an unspoken push to go to graduate school as a humanities major because of the stigma of a lack of humanities careers — a stigma perpetuated by the lack of dedicated humanities employers at the Career Fair, in Gomez’s opinion." https://bit.ly/3URJB3H
