MONJASA ACQUIRES TWO MORE TANKERS. Monjasa has taken ownership of two tankers, the 17,200 dwt Monjasa Rover and 7858 dwt Monjasa Hunter, both of which will be managed out of its Dubai office, while targeting opportunities primarily in West Africa. The latter joins as a unique fleet addition supporting length-restricted offshore oil and gas vessels including FPSOs. As reported by Riviera Maritime Media Ltd, HaiSea Marine has taken delivery of the first LNG-powered tug in Canada to escort gas carriers to the Kitimat LNG export facility. HaiSea Kermode is the first of two dual-fuel escort tugs to arrive from Sanmar A.Ş. shipyard in Turkey, and it will be followed by sister vessel HaiSea Warrior. They can run on LNG or diesel fuel and remain compliant with IMO Tier III nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter (PM) emissions standards. LNG Canada intends to export 18M tonnes of LNG annually from the first phase of the Kitimat project. LNG as a marine fuel provides an up to 95% reduction of NOx emissions, as well as virtually zero sulphur oxides (SOx) and PM emissions. It can offer a 23% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions when measured on a well-to-wake basis compared with current oil-based marine fuels – and it is widely available and practical to use today. 🇬🇷 🚢 Greek shipowners invest 13.6 billion US dollars for 52 new LNG carriers Greek shipowners are consolidating their position among the elite “players” of the LNG carrier market, implementing an expanded shipbuilding program that will increase their fleet in the coming years, according to Naftemporiki. According to data shared with “Naftemporiki” by Veson Nautical, Greek shipowners have 52 LNG carriers on order, worth 13.6 billion US dollars. Did you know that SOLAS vessels encapsulate passenger-carrying vessels on international voyages, and cargo vessels (including oil tankers, chemical tankers, gas carriers, bulk carriers, container ships, and mobile offshore drilling units) of 500 gross tonnage and above? The International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) was a treaty signed to make merchant ships safer. "All countries that are signatories to SOLAS have implemented the ISM Code for SOLAS vessels operating under their flag. In addition, many countries (e.g. the United Kingdom, Norway, and Australia) have extended safety management requirements to a greater portion of their non-SOLAS fleet." In Canada, however, an upcoming mandate will soon be applied to include all the other classes to have a documented marine safety management system in place. The Singapore-headquartered shipyard group has secured a contract worth USD 8bn Seatrium has won the huge order with Brazil’s national oil company Petrobras for the construction of two floating production storage and offloading vessels (FPSO) platforms. The construction of the two units will commence in the first quarter of 2025 with expected delivery in 2029. Only recently, with a payment of USD 134m, Seatrium reached an agreement with the Brazilian authorities to close the chapter on Operation Car Wash, the far-reaching corruption case which led to heavy fines and long prison sentences. #offshore #oil #oilandgas #energy

Since the start of the attacks on commercial vessels in the #RedSea and the #ArabianSea, the following shipping companies have suspended transiting through #BabAl-Mandeb in the #RedSea #MAERSK, #MSC, #CMACGM, #HapagLloyd, #NipponKalsha (NYK Line), #MitsuiO.S.K.Lines (MOL), #KawaskiKaisha (K-Line), #OceanNetworkExpress (ONE) Remember these vessels contain cargo for consumers and manufacturers in the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, and the U.S. Oil tankers and LNG vessels have either halted or returned to a safe port. The impact, unfortunately, is on the Yemeni population.
