The Best Purpose on Week 95 of 101 🏆 This week’s best purpose is “Going beyond the obvious” from Iveco Group, the Italian multinational transport vehicle #manufacturing company based in Turin. Industrial Vehicles Corporation, in short IVECO, was born in 1975 from the merge of five different brands: Fiat Veicoli Industriali, Officine Meccaniche, Lancia Veicoli Speciali, Unic and Magirus-Deutz. In January 2022, Iveco Group was a brand-new company after separating from its parent organization. It needed its own #purpose and #values to guide it into the future, and these new statements needed to reflect a long history of accomplishments. This is why, the last few years the company – with Gallup as a thought partner – went through the process of redefining the corporate #culture, the reason to exists, and the five values to highlight how everyone at Iveco Group works to drive long-lasting #change in the automotive industry. Francesco Tutino, Chief Human Resources Officer at Iveco Group:  “The brand is a time machine – it either works in the past, or in the future. It very rarely stands still. As a long standing Fiat then FCA Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and now Stellantis shareholder, it is my obligation to remember the last true visionary leader: #Sergio_Marchionne. He not only had the pragmatic vision of the “doers” but was also capable of designing a pathway for the entire #automotive industry. Over the past 6 years, since his passing, lack of true leadership has brought the company (now together with the former Groupe PSA) to the brink of irrelevance! He knew how to drive Value forward!! #automation #branding #mobility

Are recalls a bad thing? I've often heard people buying a car getting worried that their model of choice has been recalled and hence is perceived by them as being "defective"!. My opinion? Recalls are good!. It is acknowledgement by the OEM that something needs to be fixed!. So the next time you hear of a recall, it might actually mean you're going to buy a new and improved product!. LEADERSHIP IS MAKING DECISIONS Yet another big decision in the F1 world - Lewis Hamilton has announced his decision to leave Mercedes and move to Ferrari. This isn’t the first time Hamilton has had to make such a big decision. Back in 2012, he decided to join Mercedes and leave McLaren, the team that brought him into F1. It was a BIG risk, but it certainly paid off, with 6 world championship titles earned since the move. When I joined former Haas Team Principal Guenther Steiner on stage at DPW last fall, he shared that leadership is all about making decisions. Even if a decision leads to an unintended outcome, you learn something and move forward. But making no decision takes away your ability to influence the outcome. No matter what role you have or what industry you work in - F1, procurement, or otherwise - risks and outcomes always have to be weighed and measured. This is the mark of a leader - someone who can take what they’re given, make a decision - the best they can, of course - and push forward when things don’t go as planned. Making decisions and learning from your choices will propel you and your business forward.
