A shocking two out of three business leaders think their organizations are overly complex and inefficient. This stat from McKinsey blew my mind. 🤯 But maybe it shouldn't have. At Profusion Strategies, we hear clients complain that their reporting structures are hard to navigate and slow them down unnecessarily. And I've walked away from meetings with key decision-makers surprised at how needlessly convoluted their companies seem. On top of this, much of the complexity and inefficiency is driven by things I consider basic blocking and tackling. According to the same McKinsey study, leaders say that almost 40% of inefficiency is due to complex organizational structure and unclear roles and responsibilities. So what's the solution? Wherever possible, look at simplifying and streamlining organizational structure. And ensure that everyone in the company knows what their role is and what results they are responsible for delivering.
