Working in the janitorial and staffing industry, I have come to realize that our success does not solely depend on the big picture but also on the small details that are often overlooked. Perry Paxton's words, "Excellence is in the details," perfectly capture this sentiment.
In our line of work, attention to detail is what defines excellence. Every surface we clean, every space we maintain, and every staff member we place, reflects our meticulous care and precision. It is the small details that make the biggest difference. This is the essence of achieving excellence.
Our teams and services strive to turn each detail into a stepping stone towards excellence. We know that the journey never ends, but by looking closely and caring deeply, we ensure that excellence is not just a destination, but a habit that is inherent in our character. I would love to hear your thoughts and experiences on this!

Janitor and CEO are Equals
In the grand scheme of a business, the janitor and the CEO hold equal importance. Imagine a day when anyone else besides the CEO takes time off; the business continues to run smoothly. But if the janitor takes a day off without a replacement, the work environment quickly becomes uncomfortable and less productive.
So why do we often overlook the vital contributions of our janitorial and maintenance crews? In a corporate setting, no one should feel they are above another. Everyone's role is crucial to the overall success and well-being of the company.
When I worked in the aerospace industry, I didn't hesitate to swiffer the floors or help take out the trash. Yes, it was manual labor that I wasn’t hired for, but those small gestures go a long way. Having a degree does not excuse anyone from treating all members of the company with equal respect and dignity.
To this day, I spend weekends cleaning the machine shop. Managers and corporate leaders need to lead by example, get to know the janitorial staff, include them in conversations, and ask about their goals and aspirations. My dad and I both started as janitors, and it means a lot when management or your boss checks in and shows they care.
I encourage you to initiate conversations at work, as you will never know the experiences people have gone through and how they can even help with obstacles at work!

🌟 Celebrating Excellence in Our Team! 🌟
I am thrilled to announce that James Barker, our Plumbing Manager, has achieved his largest month ever in the plumbing division at Yarbrough & Sons Heating, Cooling & Plumbing! 🏆
Recognizing and celebrating our team’s accomplishments is not just about acknowledging hard work; it’s about fostering a culture of appreciation and motivation. Public recognition like this can have a profound impact on our team’s morale and drive.
We believe that building a strong culture starts with celebrating our people. When we take the time to highlight achievements, we inspire others to strive for excellence and create an environment where everyone feels valued and motivated to contribute their best.
Building a positive culture through recognition:
1. Celebrate Wins Publicly: Sharing successes with the wider team boosts morale and encourages a culture of mutual support and recognition.
2. Foster a Sense of Belonging: Recognizing individual contributions helps team members feel valued and integral to the company’s success.

Imagine if we spoke to and cared for our employees the way this little girl does to her apple tree. 🥹🍏
Apple trees and employee recognition share several similarities when it comes to cultivating thriving workplace cultures:
🍏 . Nurturing Growth: Just as apple trees require nurturing care to grow and flourish, employee recognition programs provide the support and acknowledgment needed for employees to thrive in the workplace.
🍎 . Cultivating Engagement: Similar to how apple trees engage with their environment to produce fruit, employee recognition programs engage employees by acknowledging their contributions and fostering a sense of belonging and purpose.
🍏 . Bearing Fruit: Like apple trees that bear fruit as a result of proper care, effective employee recognition programs yield positive outcomes such as increased morale, productivity, and retention, ultimately contributing to a thriving workplace culture.
🍎 . Sustaining Sustainability: Both apple trees and employee recognition initiatives require ongoing attention and maintenance to sustain their long-term impact on the environment and organizational culture, respectively.

❤️🔥 What a difference a touch of positivity and passion has!
I’ve had such an enjoyable first few weeks at The Old Courthouse in Cheltenham and although there is much work to be done, I cannot stress how exciting it is to be part of the project we’re building here.
It’s amazing how passion, positivity and direction is all you need to engage a team and help them get firing in the right direction.
I don’t think we value it enough in Hospitality.
🌟Care about your team.
🌟Care for your guests.
🌟Set goals that you can all strive together for as a unit.
One thing I will always remember from a mentor of mine;
🌟Hospitality isn’t just customer service, labour costs and financial percentages.
🌟It’s about how you make your guests ‘FEEL’ and leaving your venue with a happy memory of the service and staff, the atmosphere and the experience.
If we can get this part right it’s more than half the battle we have as leaders in the industry.
Let me know your thoughts?
